Chapter 3-Black dress

"I'm going out to pick up my dress, do you need anything while I am out?" My mum asks, poking her head around the door. Just like yesterday, and everyday. I am under my covers in bed not speaking. My dad says I'm being dramatic, what makes me more silent if possible. From the not looking at her, she guesses I mean no and exits the room leaving the door open, but I do not have any energy to get up and close it. I still eat, only one and a half meals, but at least it is something , and luckily my room connects to a bathroom what connects to my sisters room, so technically I do not not leave my room. I catch up on school work in my bed, what my sitter brings home for me, it has been two weeks and I am expected to go back to school after the funeral. My sister only stayed off school two days, but I know she is judged, I can see it, I think it is a big sister thing...

After about four hours, it is getting close to five pm, mum walks through the door, I hear a loud bang from the door and walking in heels around the wooden floor. I pick up my book from my bedside table and begin to read, it is about a girl who meets a boy who already knows all her secrets, I'm halfway through and eager to read more, the detail and the suspension is thrilling, every chapter ends on a cliff hanger what obviously makes me want to read more.
Around seven pm Molly brings my dinner up for me, it is cottage pie, obviously made by our chef. While I eat I watch "Friends"on my TV, what an excellent program. But then my eyes jolt to my calendar on the wall and tomorrow is the funeral my heart sinks as I hear heels slowly coming towards my room, I pick up the the thin, weightless remote for my DVD player and turn it off, along with the TV. Mum enters my room pulling her "I know you don't like this but tuff" face which makes me pull a "please know, deep down you know you don't want to" face. She is carrying a black dress over her arm.
