Prom Night.

Chapter 9

Two years later. 

  

"Do I look okay?" I asked giving Miley a little twirl.

"You look amazing, I’m sure every guy will be drooling over you" She gushed handing me my bag.

"I don't want every guy drooling over me" I stated walking out of the door.

"I know you want Danny" She said sighing. 

"Yes" I said simply getting into the car.

"Hay it's been over two years and you still haven't heard from him, are you sure he is even coming back?" She asked starting the engine.

"He needs too, he left me" I said simply leaning back. 

"You really like him don't you?" She asked.

I chuckled. "Never stopped" 

"Okay this is getting too mushy, let’s have some fun" She screamed beeping her horn! 

"This beat is sick!" I sang back. 

"I want to take a ride on your disco stick!" We screeched in unison before laughing loudly. 

"Miley calm down, it's a stupid school reunion, personally I think it's stupid, we only left two years ago" I said laughing.

"Yeah well you're miserable" She stated pulling into the school car park.

"Can't believe I'm back here again" I said miserably.

"Oh come on, you met me and Jack here didn't you?" She said smiling and looking down at her hand.

Yes after being together for four years Jack asked her to marry her; some people would say they were stupid and too young. I would say they were in love.

"Can't believe I'm engaged" She gushed getting out of the car.

"I better be the maid of honour" I said smirking, she giggled. 

"Of course" She said walking round and linking our arms.

We walked in to blaring music, and suddenly Miley let go and ran off into Jack's arms leaving me alone to amuse myself.

I looked around noticing James sitting next to a pretty blond haired girl.

"Hey" I said sitting in front of them.

I and James kept in touch but it was always the same conversation. Me asking him how Danny was.

"Hey I haven't seen you in a while" He said getting up and giving me a small hug.

"I know. How are you keeping?" I asked looking at the girl beside him.

"I'm doing great, this is my girlfriend Jane" He said wrapping his arms around her.

I smiled, happy for James. It seemed over the past two years he had grown up a lot but also settled down finally with someone.

"Nice to meet you" I said smiling.

"You too" She said shyly.

"Ill leave you too talk" She said giving James a small kiss and waving to me.

"So how is life treating you?" He asked, looking back behind me to the back of the room where photos were being taken. I remembered the first time I met Daniel was at prom when he took my photo, I smiled sadly and looked at James who was looking back at me.

"I'm okay" I said simply leaning back. "How's....."

"Danny is fine"

"Is he back?" 

He didn't answer just looked back at where the photos were being taken.

"You should get your photo taken" He said taking my hand.

"No" I said simply refusing to get up.

"Come on"

"I don't like having my photo taken" I said.

"We all know that's not true" He whispered smirking, I sighed.

"Fine" I snapped getting up and walking over with him by my side and joined the small queue.

"Everyone seems so different" I whispered looking around me.

"Not everyone" James said smiling at me, I blushed.

"I'm going to get Jane, be right back" He said running off, I sighed and walked forward as the queue shortened.

Soon enough I was at the front and there was still no sign of James, where had he got too?

"Next" A voice said making me gasp. The voice was so recognisable. Danny.

I smiled, and walked through the curtain too see him lining up his camera.

"If you would just like to stand by the..." That when he looked at me. He looked exactly the same.

"Hayley" He whispered.

"Hello" I said slightly nervous.

"How are you?" He asked not looking at me.

"I have missed you" I said, he looked up but not into my eyes.

"You had your prince" He said back, making my eyes rear up.

"I'm so sorry I didn't believe you Danny, when I realised you were telling the truth I ran to yours, but I was too late! I really wanted to tell you...” 

"Tell me what?" He was closer now; his eyes were burning into mine.

"I love you Danny" I whispered, looking at the floor. 

"I missed you too so much" He whispered pulling my chin up.

"Come on were waiting here" Someone called from the queue; I looked up to see Miley, Jack, James and Jane all chuckling.

I looked back up at Danny who was grinning.

"I love you Hayley, I'm sorry I can't be a perfect prince but...” I put my finger against his lips.

"Your perfect" I whispered wrapping my arms around his neck.

"Kiss, kiss, kiss" Miley chanted making me blush.

"We better do as they say" Danny mumbled leaning forward.

"Yes we better"
