Chapter Fourteen

“Hello? Anybody home?” Greyson called out, closing the big doors.

Four days has passed since the fight. Ronan was still sick, and his temperature didn’t fall but rose even more. Danielle was very worried. They had taken him to the clinic. The doctor said that it was normal fever, and Ronan should just stay at home and rest, and drink lots of water.

Danielle rushed down the stairs to greet Greyson. She hugged him, and cling her body on him, wrapping her legs on his waist. Greyson smiled and kissed her on the lips. Greyson kept his promise. Since the past four days, Greyson has been coming home early, each day with a surprise. Yesterday, he bought her a box of her favorite chocolate.

They kissed for so long before Greyson put Danielle down.

“How’s Ronan?” Greyson asked, taking of his coat.

“Not good. He didn't eat anything today, even though I told him too.” Danielle said worriedly.

“That’s not good. If he doesn’t eat then how could he eat his medicine?”

“He didn't eat that too. I can’t make him eat.”

“He can’t not his medicine!” Greyson said worriedly, walking upstairs to Ronan's room.

Ronan was lying there, limply. He didn't look so good, with black rings around his eyes, he looked weak. His face was very pale. Greyson laid a hand on his forehead.

“Oh, that’s too hot.” Greyson said worriedly. Danielle nodded. They went outside the room and headed to their own room.

“So how’s work today?” Danielle asked, sitting on the bed.

“Well, I have a very big surprise to tell you.” Greyson said, grinning, taking of his clothes.

“What is it? Will I like it?”

Greyson shrugged. “Maybe. But I do.” He smiled.

“Tell me.” Danielle rushed.

“Well, don’t be so surprised okay?”

Danielle nodded.

“Adam is going on his first European tour next week!”

Daniele smiled. “Does that mean your work has paid off?”

“Yeah of course.” Greyson smiled. “All that hard work, and now Adam is starting to build his name higher. Now, Europe, soon, the whole world!”

Danielle laughed. “You sure are ambitious.”

“Well, I hope Adam would replace my place in the world. I'm tired already.”

“Are you retiring? You’re just 25?”

“No silly, I'm not retiring. I mean, the world would look at Adam and expect less from me. Maybe at that time I could rest for awhile.”

“I thought you love singing?”

“I do, of course, just now and then I would like to take a break.”

Danielle frowned. “Wait a minute, if Adam is going to Europe, wouldn’t you follow him?”

“Yeah, why?”

“That means you’re gonna leave me and Ronan for two months.” Danielle frowned.

“Yeah, but don’t worry, after that we’ll be together.”

“But you’ll leave us for two months. And Ronan is sick. Anything could happen to him.” Danielle said.

“Ah, he’ll be fine.  Just two months. That’s not long enough for him to die.”

Danielle’s mouth fell open. She could believe her ears. Is Greyson really saying this?

“Not enough for him to die?” Danielle asked, unbelievingly. “ How could you say that?!”

“Oh, relax. I was just joking.” Greyson laughed, changing his clothes.

“How could you joke about our son’s life?” Danielle asked angrily. “And two months is long enough for ANYTHING to happen to him! How could you just leave him in times like this?”

“Look Danny, I thought we’ve talked this over.”

“We have, and now you're leaving for two months, abandoning your sick son.”

“Danielle, children get sick all the time. That doesn’t mean that I have to be there every time he sneezes right?”

“How- how could you say that?! Ronan is so badly sick, and you act as if you don’t even care!”

“Danielle. I do care, but I can’t just leave Adam on the tour. He needs his manager. And you wouldn’t expect me to abandon him don’t you?”

“You couldn't abandon Adam but you're abandoning your son?”

Greyson sighed. “Look Danielle, I'm not abandoning him, I'm just going for two months.”

“Just two months? But he needs you now more than ever. Can’t you postpone the tour?”

“Don’t be silly, of course I can’t.”

Danielle shook her head unbelievingly. She stood up. “How could you choose Adam over your own son? He is sick, and it could be deadly. And you don’t even care?!”

“Don’t start the drama Danielle. I'm just going for two months, not two years. If you're so worried about Ronan, then ask your mom to come over and stay with you. I can’t postpone the tour, it’s impossible.”

Danielle backed out of the room. She ran into Ronan's room and locked the door. She lay next to Ronan and cried.

How could Greyson go, even when Ronan is so badly sick? He could die. His immune system was too weak to hold the fever. Anything could happen. The fact that Greyson thought that Ronan would be fine when he isn't was just saddening. He doesn’t even cares about Ronan.

I thought he said he would change. Danielle sobbed to herself.
