Maddie's POV:

It's been years since I saw Severus, but I never doubted his word. These past few weeks I've been having strange dreams; I've consulted Dumbledore about them, but he didn't say anything that was remotely helpful. He was acting strange as well, I think he knew something more than he was letting on like he usually does. "All staff, please meet me in my office for a meeting. All students must return to their dormitories at once." Dumbledore spoke over the intercom system. Just like Severus said, I stuck to my studies and became assistant game keeper for Hagrid; well...I actually helped all the professors around Hogwarts to be honest. The reason for this is because I was good at just about everything, and Dumbledore liked to have me help around with the first years. "What do you think could be going on?" Mcgonagall asked as we walked towards Dumbledore's office. "I'm not sure, but whatever it is can't be good." I replied getting that nervous feeling in the pit of my stomach. Once we were all gathered in his office he finally decided to speak. "As you all know we have been having a sort of silent war with He Who Shall Not Be Named. I have been informed that he has vanquished, but at the cost of two valuable lives. Lily and James Potter have perished this evening at dusk, and it is are job to give their son Harry Potter a new home." Dumbledore said as his blue eyes scanned over each of our faces. I felt my heart break for Severus because I knew how much he loved Lily. 'I wonder if he knows." I said to myself. "How did you learn of these events?" Professor Flitwick asked curiously. "That is purely confidential. However, I am recruiting some trustworthy companions to travel with me tonight. Maddie, go fetch Rubeus for me please." He said kindly. "Sure." I said before I left the room. I used the lumos charm to guide my way through the darkness on my way to Hagrid's private chambers. I knocked on the door and waited patiently. "Who goes there?" He asked. "It's me Hagrid." I replied. "Oh, what are you doing out here so late Maddie? Don't you know it's dangerous?" He said. "Yes, but Dumbledore sent me. He wants you to come with me to his office." I said. "Well, lead the way then." He said with curiosity on his face. "What does he want me for?" He asked curiously as we made are way to the castle. "He said that Lily and James Potter have been killed by You Know Who tonight. He wants a few to travel with him tonight somewhere; he didn't elaborate." I replied. "That's a shame." He said with a sad expression. We silently walked the rest of the time, and when we walked into the office only him and Mcgonagall were present. "Ah, Hagrid. Thank you Maddie, you too are coming with us." Dumbledore said with a slight twinkle in his blue eyes. "Okay." Replied not really understand why he wanted me to come along with them. We aperated into a street and he turned all the street lights off with a triangle shaped box thing I never saw before. "Wait..where's Hagrid?" I asked curiously when I realized he wasn't with us. "He went to get the boy from my informant." Dumbledore said with a twinkle in his eye. "Oh." I replied. "I want you to keep an eye on Harry for me. Would you do that?" Dumbledore asked me curiously. "Sure, but what about Hogwarts?" I asked him curiously. "It's only for the remainder of the year and during the summer. I just want you to observe how the Dursleys treat young Mr. Potter." He said with a slight smile. "Very well." I replied. Suddenly Hagrid came from the sky riding his flying motorcycle. He had a bundle in his arms when he got off of the bike and gently handed the baby off to Dumbledore. "Good luck Harry Potter." Dumbledore softly said before he placed the baby boy on a doorstep. I would have gladly taken the boy and raised him myself, but thanks to laws he has to go to his closest relatives. A bunch of thoughts ran through my head while I watched the sleeping boy. 'That could have been Severus dead if he married Lily.' I thought to myself. "Maddie, are you coming?" I heard Mcgonagall ask me curiously. "Yeah, sorry." I said. We aperated and I ended up in my private chambers. I found a note on my bed from Dumbledore.
