Maddie's POV:

Remus accompanied me to Rivendell where my great grand parents live. I told them of my parent's deaths and how I was an assistant teacher at Hogwarts. They told me how proud my parents would have been and how proud they are of me. We stayed there for a good long time, and when we started on a journey back the griffin had a bunch of letters for me. Most of them were from Severus, but a few were from Mcgonagall, Dumbledore, Sirius, and Hermione. I quickly wrote all of them back and explained why hadn't replied. I realized we had been gone for about a year and a half, almost two years. "You won't get anytime to relax Maddie, classes will be starting soon. I bet the other professors have been missing you; especially Severus." Remus said as we walked into a restaurant just outside of Diagon alley. "I know. I feel sorry for all of them at Hogwarts, they had to endure Dolores Umbridge." I said after we ordered are food. "I know, so am I. I'm surprised she's still employed at the Ministry of you ask me. She has been doing a lot of shady things since she started working there." Remus replied. After a while we just sat and enjoyed are meal in silence. I couldn't wait to see Severus and the other teachers. "We better get going. I'll see you later Maddie." He said as we both got up and left the restaurant. He was heading back home while I went on to Hogwarts. We have each other a quick hug and parted ways. I hoped everything would be somewhat normal when I went back.

~ Time Jump - Arriving At Hogwarts ~

I walked through the front doors of Hogwarts, and I was so glad I was home again. It has been way too long since the last time I had walked through these walls and talked with the other professors here. "Maddie! You're back!" Mcgonagall said with shock and happiness in her eyes. "Yes I am. You have no idea how happy I am to see you Minerva." I said as we hugged. "I'm glad your back, we've all been missing you. We're exceedingly happy you weren't present last year due to Umbridge. I'm sure you've heard of her horrid doings here." She said. "Yes I'm aware of the events that have occurred during her visit here. I'm glad all of you endured the challenges she had set. I've been missing everyone here as well." I replied. "A certain person has been very grumpy ever since the day you left Maddie, I suggest you go and visit him." She said with slight amusement in her tone and eyes. "I wanna talk with everyone." I said with a smile. "You can talk with the rest of us at dinner time dear. That is...if he lets you out of his grasp this evening." She said with an underlying meaning I couldn't help but catch. "Ah, well...I'll see you latter then." I said with a slight laugh. "See you latter, It's a pleasure having you back at Hogwarts." She said with another hug. "It's a pleasure to be here." I said with a smile. We parted ways and I headed down to the dungeons, where I found Severus sitting at his desk. He was writing something down, and I figured it was lesson plans. The one thing that puzzled me was that all of his personal stuff was packed in boxes. I hoped he wasn't leaving Hogwarts; especially since I was back. "Look at ya, I come back and you don't even notice me coming into your classroom." I said with slight playfulness in my voice. He looked up and his eyes grew wide. "Maddie." He said breathlessly. "Severus." I said with a widening smile. He smiled and came towards me quickly, yet gracefully. He wrapped his strong arms around me and held me close. I snuggled into him and took in his sent and warmth; something I've been missing dearly. "It's good to be home." I said softly. "It's good to have you home. I've missed you so much Maddie." He whispered as he pulled me closer. "I've missed you too." I replied. He pulled away from me slightly and slowly closed the distance between us. His lips met mine in a soft tender kiss that went straight to my bones. Soon we had to break apart for air, but he kissed me again after we caught are breath. His lips were so soft and warm; it was even better than the first kiss we shared. "You have no idea how many times I've dreamed of this moment." He whispered in my ear when he wrapped his arms around me once again. "You're such a softie Severus." I said with a giggle. "Only for you." He whispered, which made me feel warm inside. We just enjoyed the feeling of being in each other's arms. "Why are all your things packed?" I asked him curiously as we moved over to his desk. "Because Slughorn is taking my place. Dumbledore wants him to return, so I'll finally be teaching Defence Against the Dark Arts." He replied with some excitement in his dark eyes. "That's great Severus! But....I'm gonna have a hard time not seeing you down here surrounded by your potions." I said, which made him smile. "I know how you feel. I honestly didn't feel like giving up my teaching position, but when Dumbledore mentioned Slughorn....I knew he the potions classes would be in good hands." He replied. "You do have a point." I said. "So, do you need help moving into the D.A.D.A classroom?" I asked curiously. "Yeah, but we can move my things tomorrow. I want to know about your adventures." He said with a smile on his face. "Okay, okay, but...I want to know about what you've been doing too. I understand that Umbridge wouldn't allow anyone to write letters to anyone." I said. "Yes, and it made me absolutely infuriated! God! That woman and her pink attire. Not to mention her cat obsession." He said in an angry tone. "Temper much." I said, which made him laugh a little. "Sorry." He said. "It's fine." I said with a laugh. After a while we went to his private chambers where I told him about my adventures, but I excluded the fact that I was making an antidote for Nagini's venom. That was something that needed to remain private. "So, what have you been doing lately?" I asked him curiously. "Well, the Dark Lord is officially back....along with the dark mark." He said with a sad look in his eyes. "You've been summoned by him then, over the summer." I said. "I have, and what makes me angry is that Bellatrix Lestrange doubts my faith to the Dark Lord." He said. "Does he doubt your faith?" I asked him curiously. "He doubts all of are faith. Especially since none of us offered to help bring him back besides Peter Pettigrew. Even his acts weren't solely on loyalty; mostly just fear." He said. "Listen Severus, I will be here to protect you from harm. Always." I said, which made him smile a little. "Sweetheart, I can't let you get tangled up with the other death eaters. I can't have you come to a fait like Lily; I promise to never let that happen." He said sweetly. "I can't let you die either Severus. Your everything to me, and you always will." I said, which gained a kiss from him. "Maddie, I'll have to do some things this year that might make you hate me. I just want you to know that...I'll love you no matter what." He whispered as he held my hand in his. "Severus, I could never hate you." I said softly. "I really hope you mean that Maddie." He said as he pulled me into another embrace. "Severus, I know you're a double agent. Most importantly, I know where your true loyalties lie; you're on Dumbledore's side. One day you'll have to play the villain you're making the Dark Lord believe you are. I will trust you and love you with everything I have." I said sweetly. "And I'll love and trust you with everything I have too." He whispered. We laid there I'm each other's arms before we decided to go to the great hall to eat. Everyone gave me hugs and said how much they've missed me. Even a few were crying tears of joy, because they thought I might have die or something. I was touched at how much everyone here loves and cares for me, and every bit of it I felt the same about them. After dinner I went back to Severus's private chambers, mostly because he made me and I secretly wanted to spend the night with him. I was so happy to be home, but I wondered what dark deeds Voldemort would want Severus to perform.
