"Go fish" I giggle as I play cards up at the hospital with Chance. He had been in the hospital all week. Going on two weeks actually. I spent all my time here at the hospital with him. I worked on my parent's farm so they did not need me at the moment. I was about to be with Chance.
"Dang it" laughs Chance. He had such a handsome smile. Made my heart go weak. Skip a few beats here and there. Someone some place had to be missing a man like this! They just had to!
"Hang on! My cell phone is ringing. This is Sari calling me. I will be right back Chance" I promise him. He nods as he cleans up our card game. I walk out in the hall way to talk to Sari.
"Hey girl! I never catch you at home anymore" she reminds me.
"I have been up here with Chance. He needs me" I tell her.
"Sounds like someone has a little crush Florence Nightingale" she teases me.
"Shut up. I just like his company is all. He needs someone. He does not have anyone" I remind her.
"I know. You are really good to him. How is our man doing? When will he go home? Or out of the hospital?" she asks me.
"We will find out later today if he gets to leave" I tell her.
"Where is he going to go? Won't he be homeless pretty much?" she wonders. She had a good point. He could not go to a shelter. He needed medical care still. He had those casts on. I would not have it.
"He won't be. I will let you go. I need to call my dad" I tell her.
"Okay but keep in touch stranger" she says as we hang up.
I call my dad.
"Hey how are things? How is Chance?" asks Dad.
"He is good. So far. He might get released from the hospital" I mention.
"That would be a good thing" Dad says.
"No not really" I sigh.
"Why what is going on?" he wonders.
"Chance will be homeless dad! He has no memory of his home! We can't send him out in the streets! Can he stay with us? He would not hurt a fly. Dad please?" I beg of him.
"I will talk things over with your mother. I am pretty sure it would be fine. I will call you back on that" he tells me.
"Please get her to. Bring her up here to meet him. He will win her over" I promise him.
"You really have a thing for this young man huh?" teases my dad. First Sari then dad come on guys!
"So what if I do" I sigh.
"I will call you back honey" he vows as we hang up. I head back in the room with Chance.
