I rolled over in bed to move my phone under my pillow.
Buzz! Buzz! Buzz!
Unfortunately, I was unsuccessful in stopping it.
Buzz! Buzz! Buzz! Buzz!
It continued despite my efforts to ignore the pest.
While stopping for a few seconds, I sighed in relief only to be more irritated when it began once more.
Buzz! Buzz! Buzz!
Damn. Who ever is calling must either be dying or have something pretty fricken important to say.
Reluctantly, I pried open my eyes to view my cell.
Wade.
I answered but remained silent.
"Hello?.... Kate?... Hell-o?...Am I-I just talking to myself?... Did you just throw your phone at a wall?... I'm gonna hang up and call back in five. .. Alright.... O.k?'
"Wade,what do you want? It's too early for life. " I complained.
"Nice to hear your up and about sweet heart" Wade spoke with fake cheer in his voice. " And it's not early. It's almost 3pm"
"Shit. I guess I've wasted my whole day sleeping." At that moment, I pushed off my covers and went downstairs for a bowl of cereal.
In a parent like tone he yelled "Where were you last night little girl? You didn't show up at the after-we-lose-another-football-game-party. Gen and I were worried sick!"
I explained everything from the note and Mr. Simons to the movie theatre with Jack while downing my soggy cereal. My stomach growled as I removed a pack of bacon from the fridge into a pan.
"When were you planning to tell me how deeply in love with him you are?" Wade asked.
"I am not! I just simply enjoy his company." I lied blushing and raising my voice an octave. Seriously, I can't lie for my life! Anyone want to teach me?
"O.K. Kate, that's like saying you know how to cook bacon." I looked down to see it was burning badly in the pan. When I failed to answer him back, he continued.
"Just be careful. Don't let yourself be pulled down. You are too good for him." Wade's voice was laced with jealousy and concern. "Jack better realize what a lucky bastard he is to hold such a beautiful heart." His words were nearly whispered in a way I had to strain my ears to hear them.
