As Eugenia signed the papers, she couldn't believe what she was hearing. Selena's words felt like a knife twisting in her heart, breaking it into pieces.
She had expected a fight, but Eugenia's calm demeanor caught her off guard. As she packed her suitcase, her soon-to-be ex-wife leaned against the door, watching her every move.
Eugenia knew it was time to move on, but it still hurt. She wanted to say something, anything, to make Selena change her mind.
But she knew it was pointless. As she zipped up her suitcase, she looked up at Selena and smiled.
"You will find someone who deserves you, Selena," She said softly.
"Same goes for you," Selena replied.
"One last kiss?" Eugenia asked.
She wasn't sure if she wanted to do it, but as Selena moved closer and cupped her face, she knew it was the right thing to do. They pressed their lips together gently, savoring the last moments of their relationship.
With a gentle smile playing on her lips, she leaned in closer, wrapping her arms around her neck as their lips met. The kiss was sweet and passionate, but eventually, she pulled away, sighing softly.
A hint of sadness flickered in Selena's eyes as she touched her lips, a bittersweet memory lingering. Eugenia's smile was subtle yet radiant as she delicately placed her necklace on the table.
With a graceful motion, she reached for the door handle, opening it and closing it behind her. There was an air of mystery surrounding her departure.
Selena's gaze fixated on her wedding ring, her fingers slowly sliding it off her finger. Placing the ring down on the table, she picked up the necklace, clutching it tightly as she walked away.
It was a symbolic act, a tangible representation of moving on from a chapter that had come to an end. Overwhelmed with emotions, sank onto the bed burying her face in her hands as tears streamed down her cheeks.
The weight of the situation hit Selena hard, as she never truly believed she would find herself facing a divorce. It was a painful reality that she had to confront.
At the tender age of 23, she had already experienced the heartache of a failed marriage. Exhaling deeply, absentmindedly rubbed her thumb over the spot where her wedding ring used to be, a constant reminder of the love that had slipped through her fingers.
Wiping away her tears, she stood up from the couch and made her way to the bedroom. As she entered the room, her eyes scanned the surroundings, seeking solace in the familiar.
Sitting down on the edge of the bed, she cradled the necklace in her hand, finding comfort in its presence. Exhausted from the emotional turmoil, she eventually succumbed to sleep, tears still glistening on her cheeks.
-A year later.-
Selena was in New York for work on comedian Amy Schumer's TV show. As she walked out of the hotel, a smile spread across her face.
