The silver is for the top lock (the deadbolt) and you have to wiggle it in just right. Most of the time (when the door is locked that is) the key fails to do its job and I'm ready for the ZA to start.
The gold one is for the bottom lock and works really well. If Mom or Lenny ever lock the door, it's mostly the bottom one.
