"Nandini? Nandini? Are you in?" said Navya as I was in the bathroom of the hospital.
"Oh yeah... I'm coming out." I said.
"Ya ya.. Take time. I mean, araamseaana. Koijaldinahihai." she said again and then for like the next five minutes or so, no one troubled me. It's Diwali today and I'm here in this hospital... Huh! I would have expected a surprise or something but then nor can I move out of the hospital nor can anyone else bring me a surprise here.
When I unlocked my door, the lights went off.
"SHIT MAN NO WAY!" Manik shouted.
In not less than two seconds the generator of the hospital must have been switched on and everything got illuminated again.
"Ma---" I could not even complete saying the word Manik as I began to laugh. He was tangled in between some fairy lights. They were now all glowing. Some were golden while some were silver.
"Ma-Manik you're sh-shining!" I said laughing.
His typical angry glare covered his face when he smiled mischievously and pulled me close to him.
"Look... Now even you're shining." he said.
I was looking in his eyes. It felt like I was looking in his eyes like after years or so! I felt so nice and his eyes made me feel like I was safe. He then slowly unwrapped the fairy light from him and wrapped us both inside it.
He then somehow managed to put his hand inside his pocket and take out something from it.
"Happy Diwali." he said to me and presented that box to me.
"Happy Diwali." I said to him.
"See this." he said to me just like a Prince does. Oh! When will I stop falling in love with him?
He then handled me the little sea shell kind of a thing. I quickly opened it to find a ring in it. It was difficult to move my hands but Manik didn't allow me to unwrap the lights.
"No... Let me see my star closely." he would say to me.
I saw a beautiful right inside it. But that wasn't an engagement ring... I was just a ring with something stuck in it.

"What's this?" I asked trying to take out the paper from it.
"See it yourself." he said.
As soon as I was about to take out the paper, my hospital door's room burst open and everyone shouted in a unison, "SURPRISE!" I quickly hid the ring in my jeans' pocket and Manik quickly unwrapped the fairy lights.
They had party poppers and balloons in their hands. I know I am too big for balloons, but I still love them!
"Whenever we see you, why are you both in a weird situation?" said Jens.
