Liam POV

I stared in shock as Bay struggled to bring oxygen to her lungs. The only thing I took comfort in was the shiny, silver necklace in my swim trunks. We were in a hurry to get to the hospital and weren't able to change out of our swimsuits. I looked to Mag as we were rushing Bay out of the hospital room. It was total chaos, nurses and doctors tried to stop us, but we swatted them away. Luckily, Bay had the hospital gown and blanket to cover her tail. Although it wasn't much help at all.

After finally getting her out of the hospital, we brought her to the shores of the beach in her newly acquired form. Her tail had slightly changed colors and became more vibrant looking. The hospital we had taken her to had been on the beach.

We took off her hospital gown and blanket and dropped her down into the water. After keeping her underwater for awhile her breathing had started to become less and less ragged as time progressed on. I was still grasping her hand when she was able to form coherent sentences. Her brown eyes bore into mine as she took another deep breath.

"Liam, I'm not human anymore." Bay cried with tears streaming down her face.

My breath caught in my throat as I looked back down at her, her words sinking into my mind. Bay was no longer allowed to walk on land anymore. That would mean we could never do anything together anymore. This was the worst day of my life.

"What, Bay? Why can't you transform into your human form again?" I questioned looking at her with a mix a look of confusion and shock.

"I don't know Liam. I chose the right door, but Malia said that there would still be consequences. I just didn't think that this is what she meant." Bay answered my questions with a frown on her face.

"Wait, Bay, slow down. Who is Malia, and what door are you even talking about?" I let go of her hand and asked her in confusion. What the heck was she talking about?

"When I was knocked out I met her in my subconscious, she helped me." Bay said. "Liam, I'm stuck as a mermaid forever!"

"We'll find a way, I promise." I responded to her. "You're gonna be okay."

"Thanks, Liam." She said before placing a kiss on my cheek.

I smiled down at her in reassurance. Now, to think of what I actually can do to help her. My train of thought was cut off when I felt the necklace in my pocket. I grabbed it and brushed my fingers over the engraved letters CAMB.

That's strange, why would there be a necklace hidden in the ocean anyways? And what did CAMB mean? This definitely is one, strange necklace.
