Mermaids (One Direction)

Chapter 16

Bay POV

          I was there in the ocean watching Liam become a mermaid just as I had become ten years prior. The waves and currents were too strong for me to swim against and all there was left to do was watch in horror. The transformation didn't take long and before I knew it the storm was gone taking Liam's human life with it.

          Finally being able to swim closer, I noticed him by the shore with a purple/maroon colored tail in tow. I grabbed his shoulders once I was close enough and stared into his eyes. The girls were right. He did look tired and  the bags underneath his eyes were evidence enough.

"Liam! What did you do? Oh no." I frantically said shaking him back and forth.

          His only response was to look at me in shock. It took him several minutes to shake it off before he could finally talk again.

"Wait...I'm a mermaid? What are you doing here? What's going on?" Liam confusedly said.

"There was a storm and the necklace's call pulled you into the ocean. You transformed and now you're a merman." I said letting it sink into both of our heads. "Liam, where did you get the necklace?"

"I found it when we were swimming together." He told me.

"This is bad. Really bad. I don't know what to do." I was starting to panic thinking about him having to live with this secret just like us. How was he going to be in the band and meet fans like this?

"Bay, it's okay. Calm down." Liam said as he stopped me from freaking out.

"How are you okay right now?! You can't be in One Direction like this. What're you going to do?" I asked.

"I'll stay with you and I can still perform. I just won't get wet." He told me.

"At least you're alive and okay. I was really worried about you when didn't come to visit me. The girls said you weren't yourself." I glanced down at the sea floor.

"I had a lot on my mind but I finally figured everything out." He grabbed my hands and smiled down at me.

"What are you talking about?" I asked.

"If I'm a merman then we can search for answers to your permanent mermaid state together. When I was in the storm I heard a voice and it told me that it had the answers to my questions. Before I could ask the storm ended and you were there in front of me." He explained.

"Well how do we talk to this voice again?" I asked.

"Voice? Do you mean me?" We turned our heads to the left trying to find the source. It came from a shadow like figure lurking in the water.

"Yes. Will you answer my question?" Liam nodded towards the suspicious figure. As it swam closer it face was revealed. Two golden eyes stared back at me. I jolted back in surprise.

"Oh. You're a descendant of Malia." The creature looked at me as a sad smile spread on his face.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Never mind that. For you, I will answer the question." He told me.

"Well, how do I become human again?"
