Chapter 26

I unlocked the front door and walked into my apartment. Rickey was seated on the couch watching a basketball game. He looked over at me when he heard the door open.

" Hi " He smiles.

I straight face him and slam the door shut, locking it, making him sigh.

" Toyi-

" No! " I put my hand up to stop him. " I'll talk to you when I'm ready Rickey, but as of this moment I don't "

I grab the bag of plantain chips laying on the counter and walk to my room, shutting the door. As soon as I put my purse on the bed, my phone began ringing. I searched through my purse and brought it out. I furrowed my eyebrows at the unknown number, but picked it up.

" Hello " I said into the phone

" Toyin! Hi, it's Anesthesia...Howard "

" Oh! Hi Ane, how are you? " I question.

" I'm good and you? I haven't spoken to you in quite a while. How's everything going? "

" I've been good and everything is fine, thanks for asking. What's up? " I ask. I haven't spoken to her since the retreat and that was months ago.

" Well, I'm having a little get together this weekend with some friends and I wanted to invite you. We haven't really spoken much and I want us to actually really get to know each other "

" Oh okay. Sure! " I say.

" Yay! Okay good. This Saturday at 2 at Madlie in downtown "

" Alright that sounds good " I reply smiling to myself.

" Great. See you this Saturday "

" Okay, bye " I say then I hang up the phone.

I drop my phone on the bed then change out of my work clothes. I put on a black tank top and light colored shorts on. I plop down on my bed and grab my book from the nightstand.

Ten minutes into reading my bedroom door opened and Rickey walked in. He shut the door and sat down on the bed. I raised my eyebrow at him then looked back down at my book.

" We have to talk " He says.

" I told you I'll talk when I'm ready " I say.

" Well I'm ready, so we are gonna talk now " He snatched my book from my hand and throws it on the floor.

" What the hell?! " I yell sitting up.

" Look T, I know what I did was really wrong and very stupid. I should've just been straight with you from the beginning, literally. It's just you were going through a lot when I first met you. You had just got your heartbroken and you weren't ready to mess any guy and I really wanted to get closer to you. So when I finally got the chance to talk to you I told you I was into guys and girls so you wouldn't think that I was just trying to get with you-
