The water swirled around me, washing away everything I knew, presenting me with two pictures: Harry and I, laughing and smiling, two small redheaded kids below us, and me standing on top of the world and crushing it, smashing it to doom.

‘Which do you want?’ The voice asked me.

“Harry and I, of course,” my voice shaking as I wondering whom it was speaking to me. I knew the voice, I’d heard it so many times before.

“Are you sure?” It questioned me again. “You could have everything.”

                “Won’t I already?” I asked, laughing nervously.

“No.” The voice spoke. “You will not have me.”

“But who are you?” I asked it.

“I am someone you know. You already know who I am, so figure it out yourself. Perhaps you’ll see that you love me instead.”

I woke up to Marcus shaking me.

“Destiny!”

“Whoa! What, Marcus?” I snapped.

“Sorry, Destiny. I just wanted to let you know that it’s time for dinner. The Aphrodite cabin wants you to sit with them.”

“Oh, joyous.” I replied sarcastically. We walked outside and I threw some carrots inside Blackheart and Aurora’s field. There would be no dining for me tonight. Only chatting with my friend Macy.

When Marcus and I got there, I noticed Arianna and Jake smiling at each other at the Apollo table. She was grinning and twisting her shiny black hair with her finger, looking beautiful as always.

Wow, Arianna is so cool. I hope she likes me, because I do….a lot! I heard Jake think.

I walked gracefully to the Aphrodite table and sat down beside Macy without her knowing. She was charmspeaking the girl next to her.

“And don’t you just hate her? Destiny was so mean to me. You should really punch her in the face, darling.” The girl was nodding, her eyes glazed.

I shook my head. “No, thanks.” I told Macy. “I think you need to do something though, honey. You need to learn how to behave like a real demigod, not some stuck-up celebrity!”

Macy was glaring at me now, and I was frowning back, angry. Someone lightly touched my arm from behind, and I turned to see who it was. Rachael? Perfect timing.

“Ask her, Macy,” I demanded. “Ask her about your future!”

The girl beside Macy disagreed. “No! It’s not time!” Chiron came running over, and he lightly touched the girl’s arm. “I’m sorry, Rosalina. It’s time for her to have a quest.”

Macy’s voice quivered as she asked, “W-w-hat is my quest?”

Rachael’s eyes grew glassy, now becoming the Oracle.

“Born from one who’s beauty is known

Your own beauty had to be grown

You shall travel to mortal lands here, not far

With three demi-gods, one whom brings a guitar

A goddess, the one who is finding her place

May discover it, in the human race

                A boy and a girl

                From lands you know

Bear you two things, a gift and a curse

The goddess may have to enter the strife, and they risk it all with one brought back to life

Someone will call out their last second verse

And one bears it all, with skin and a knife.”

My eyes grew wide. I was going on a quest? But-but- I was Destiny Jackson! I was a goddess. And I was going on a quest with Macy, and two other demigods. Macy’s voice shook. “I-I’m going to take Arianna. And-and-ummm……” The choice was made clear when we saw a man walking up the hill, a large guitar on his back.

Rachael had came back, and called out the name for us, the rest to shocked to comprehend. “Nico!” She smiled, unknowing what was happening. What was happening? I was going on a quest. I was going to witness two of the others either die, or be seriously injured. I was going to meet a boy and a girl. Someone was going to be brought back to life? It made no sense, but I was going. No choice for me, either way.

Chiron cleared his throat. “Okay, why don’t Destiny, Arianna, and Macy start packing while I tell Nico what’s going on?” We raced back to our cabins, along with Rosalina, who was trying to keep from crying. Suprisingly, she followed me, and I invited her in and gave her some tea while I packed.

She was sitting on my couch when I emerged from my room. In her hand was a single tiny mirror. She held it out to me, biting her lip.

                “Take it.” She told me.

                “Take it?” I questioned.

“Yes, and do not look into it until you’re ready.” Her voice sounded powerful now. And suddenly, I knew it. She was not the small, innocent girl I had thought she was. Rosalina was someone. She was someone that knew something. And I wanted to find out.

“Who are you, Rosalina?” I asked her.

She sighed. “An old woman.” She responded. “A very unimportant old woman.”

“I know you’re not.” I frowned. “You are very important. And you know it.”

She sighed again. “I know. And I apologize. But you have to find out yourself. And, like I said, wait until it is time.” She reminded me, indicating the mirror.

“I will,” I told her, grasping her hand and smiling. “And I’ll take care of Macy for you. Even know you will not tell me how, I am highly aware there’s something between you two. And I’ll take care of her, for you.”

She gave me a tight smile. “You have absolutely no idea.” And then she walked outside. I just stood there, thinking and wondering. Macy definitely was not the crazy girl I thought she was. Something major had happened to Rosalina and Macy to make them this way. I was planning to find out what, but first I had to sleep.

But wait! What about Harry and my family? Sighing, I made a rainbow. I didn’t bother even talking to Iris this time. She knew who I wanted. I inserted the drachmas and waited for my family and friends to show up.  I talked to them for a while, then went to sleep, not thinking about the conversation at all. But I would in the morning. I’d remember every precise detail of Harry’s perfect face, the look on my mom’s face when I told her I was going on a quest, a puzzled look on Dad’s when I recited the prophecy.

“Good luck, Destiny.” And I slept.
