..Luke... Destiny was beautiful. I was falling more and more in love with her each day. The days were going, flying by like planes. I saw some old friends…..

“Hi, Annabeth!” Percy had brought Annabeth and Thalia to see me. We were  in the back room of a restaurant, and Percy trusted me now. We just had to see what was going to happen.

“Luke….” Annabeth’s eyes started watering, her goddess beauty showing still.

Had I upset her? “What’s wrong?”

“It’s just….so nice to see you again…” She smiled, a sad, cold smile, and her eyes were still watering.

“Thank you. Is Thalia going to come soon?” Thalia, Thalia. I wondered what she’d done. She would still be sixteen, of course, but what had happened? Anything exciting, anything major?

A sixteen year old Thalia walked into the room. “Thails!” I embraced her, hugging her until she had to push me off. Funny, after all these years she still smelled like pine needles.

“Luke.” Her voice sounded authoritative, in charge. “It’s so nice to have you back.”

Back. Of course she would say it like that. Back from the evil clutches of Kronos, back from being horrible. Funny, if she could somehow quit the hunters of Artemis, I may word it like that, too. Probably partly because of her next comment.

“Why did you ever go bad? Of course, boys, they don’t know how to control themselves. So I guess I don’t quite blame you, you’re a boy and don’t know any better. Though, if I were a boy, I still don’t suppose that I would go that bad…”

“Thalia…” I tried to get her attention and failed.

“Though you didn’t have any guidance, and I suppose Artemis would side with me, knowing I was a girl once. Or perhaps she could turn me back into a….

“Thalia.”  Percy stated, and she automatically stopped. I suppose being a god, having that kind of authority, could make someone listen. It was hard to imagine that I’d had that same kind of voice inside me once…

“So….what’s new?” Thalia asked us, a sheepish grin on her face.

“Well, Luke, um, and, Destiny, well…” Annabeth started.

Thalia’s eyes grew wide. “What…..?!”

“Well, you see, I just think that I could be a better match for Destiny than Harry. Destiny, kind of, um, jumped into The River Lethe…”

“What?!” Thalia’s eyes grew small in anger. “Luke, this is your fault? Luke……. That’s just the kind of thing a boy would do!”

“Well, I kind of am a boy. Last time I checked….”

“Luke!” Percy’s voice interrupted me.

“Sorry. I, just…..well,” I lost myself in thought.

“It’s fine, Luke. Quite funny, even.” He winked at me, and out of the corner of my eye, I saw Thalia stomping her foot, her ice blue eyes radiating with anger.

We continued talking for the night, then all said our goodbyes. Though we were all friends, this was an adventure I needed to do on my own.

..Destiny... Luke, the strange boy, always was going places. He would come to Carolyn and I’s apartment with sparkles in his pretty eyes, then leave mysteriously. He must be part of the popular crowd at school, hanging out with the cool kids. I didn’t much remember school, but I had been reading books about schools, and they all seemed to say the same things. There are dorks, populars, and wanna-bes.
