"Brent?" You whisper softly, unsure if he was awake or not. Silence was the answer.
You both lay on the soft turf, in the middle of the night. Above you, shone beautiful stars like there were thousands of fireflies in the sky. Just like the ones you and Brent caught when you were younger.
"Brent?" You said as you turned towards him.
"Hmm..." He says half-asleep which made his voice even more beautiful. And himself beyond perfection.
"When I leave for Amsterdam tomorrow.. We.. We'll meet straight after a year then..." You said as your eyes got wet.
He intertwined his fingers with yours. And placed them softly on his lips, before placing both of your hands on his chest. You could feel his heart beat. It was too dark but somehow he saw those bitter diamonds in your eyes.
"When you leave for Amsterdam, tomorrow... You'll be mine." He said and paused. "... And when you come back... After a year..." He said turning towards you. "...When you come back you'll still be mine... And when I'm fat and old... You'll still remain mine.... mine, forever!" He said again, looking towards the sky. You did the same.
"Now don't cry and ruin our last night together... You would not be able to hold these hands for 365 days..." He said looking towards you with the corner of his eyes.
You giggle and look into his eyes. He had brown eyes, not a very extraordinary color or something but they were fascinating... Just in what they were... Just like him... He wasn't a perfectly-flawless person but he was the best, your best!
"Plus then I could sing you..
'I can hear your heart
On the radio beat
They're playing 'Chasing Cars'
And I thought of us
Back to the time,
You were lying next to me
I looked across and fell in love
So I took your hand
Back through lamp lit streets I knew
Everything led back to you
So can you see the stars?
Over Amsterdam

Beating to...' ". He sang the last words and you joined him too.
And you spent the rest of the night admiring the stars and making plans for when you'd return!
