It was a white Christmas, the first in more than ten years. Michele knew that this was going to be her first happy Christmas in a very long time, for she had Logan back into her life and that’s all she could have asked for.

Ever since her special performance just for him, Logan tried to get back those few weeks he didn’t have Michele in his life. His memory had fully returned that night and no one could be happier than Michele.

That morning, Michele woke up to the smell of homemade cinnamon rolls and the sound of Christmas music coming from downstairs. Since their reunion, Michele had kept her promise to Bethany by spending Christmas with their family.

“Merry Christmas,” Logan said as he waited at the top of the staircase for Michele. “I have something very special for you that I wanted you to open now before we go downstairs. “Close your eyes and hold out your hands.”

Knowing that she wasn’t peeking, Logan placed a small black velvet box into the middle of her hands.

“Okay, now you can open,” he said as he kissed her.

Michele’s eyes widened with shock at what she was holding. She carefully opened the box to find a silver ring with a diamond in the center.

“Now, this is just a promise,” he said. “This ring is to show you my lifelong promise to you. I fell in love with you and I lost you and I can’t ever go through that again and this ring symbolizes my promise to love you forever.”

“This is the best gift I could ever get, because it’s from your heart,” she said as he put it on the ring finger of her left hand.

Michele had a surprise of her own for Logan that day.

After breakfast and opening presents, Michele told Logan to get dressed and to put on something warm.

“Where are we going, isn’t everything closed on Christmas?”

“Well, not everything. Now close your eyes and please don’t peek.”

It took about 15 minutes to get to the perfect spot, Michele wanted Logan to see. She held her hand over Logan’s eyes and took several deep breaths before telling him it was okay to open his eyes.

“You always said that you wanted to meet my parents and I thought it was about time you did,” she said pointing at the three gravestones in front of them.

“Thank you,” he said as he kissed her forehead. “I have been waiting for you to feel comfortable enough to bring me here.”

As they walked across the cemetery, Michele stopped at the place where her family is buried, having to sweep away the snow from the headstones including Nanny’s.

“Mom, Dad and Carly, I want you to meet the most important person in my life, who has been my savior these last few months, this is Logan McKenzie,” she said as she wiped the snow off of their names. “Logan this is my family.”

“It’s nice to finally meet you, even though I feel like I already know you from hearing about you from Michele and through photos and videos. I just want you to know that I love Michele very much and I would never do anything to ever hurt her.”

After ten minutes, Logan walked back to the car holding Michele’s hand. Christmas had always been her family’s favorite holiday. Since it was all about family, Michele just wanted to sleep right through it, but now she felt like she had her family back.

“Michele there is something that I have been debating on telling you about. I didn’t want you to think I’m crazy or anything, but since you brought me here today, I feel like now is the right time to do it,” he said turning to face Michele. “When I was hit, I thought I died, I saw a bright light that was pulling me in and then I saw three figures come into my view. At first, I didn’t know who or what they were or what I was doing there until one of them spoke. It was your dad and he was there with your mom and Carly. They told me that they were there to meet me and to say that it wasn’t my time yet and that my mission in life was to be with you and to make you happy. You’re dad told me that he was happy with how I treated you and that he couldn’t have asked for anyone better for his daughter to be with. Your mom kissed me on the cheek and told me to tell you that she loved you. She never stopped loving you and she is watching over you and that she will always be with you in your heart. I asked them how I would know that I wasn’t dreaming and that’s when Carly came forward. She took my hand and said to tell you to stop being sad that you survived and not her. She said that was God’s plan and you shouldn’t beat yourself up about it anymore and that she was happy where she was. Carly then said something that I didn’t understand at the time, but I hope you knew what it meant.

“What did she say?” Michele asked as tears started rolling down her face.

“Carly wanted to tell you why she saved your life. She said it was because you’re her sister and that she loves you. You would have done it for her.”
