Luka:
"So... you're gay?" Nick cleared his throat as the both of us ate bowls of cereal in the kitchen. I dropped my spoon into my bowl and groaned, it was eight in the morning this was not the breakfast starter topic I wanted.
Since we had all gotten back from our cottage adventure Nick hadn't brought up the whole Eli and I situation and I was praying he wouldn't ever. "Nick seriously?" he threw his hands up in defense, "I'm just curious" rolling my eyes I picked my spoon back up and started eating again.
I thought that my silence meant that the conversation had ended until... "Have you two fucked? How does it work exactly? Are you the top or bottom or maybe you take turns?" he fired off each question one by one.
This was not the sort of thing we needed to be discussing, there was a thing called too much sharing and those questions definitely were too much.
"You're an idiot" I said finishing my cereal and walked out of the kitchen to the front door. "Love you!" he called out as I slammed the door behind me and headed to my jeep getting in and started it up.
Eli had messaged me to come pick him up since his own jeep was currently in the shop getting fixed, it was always getting fixed I was surprised the thing still even ran. I told him I would give him mine and just get a new one but he was stubborn and didn't like accepting gifts.
Which made it harder on me to actually give him something.
I parked outside his house and honked the horn resting on it the whole time, even when he appeared walking towards me flipping me off I still rested my arms on it drawing attention to myself in this little suburban neighborhood.
"Shut the hell up already you dummy" he said making me raise my eyebrows and stopped. "You dummy? Ouch way to really hurt my feelings Eli I think I might cry" sarcasm was dripping from my words as he just stared at me clearly not amused.
We ended up going out for coffee and then sat on the beach for a while and I felt as if we were on an actual date, throughout the whole time I tried my hardest not to grab his hand.
I leaned back on my elbows on the sand watching the waves crash onto the shore over and over. Sometimes I forgot to notice the little things around me, like the feel of the ocean breeze hitting my face or the warmth from the sun soaking into my skin.
I even forgot to notice the people around me who cared about me. Sometimes the anger got too much and it blocked out everything else and swallowed me whole.
But here right now with Eli, resting his head on my stomach as he stared up at the sky, I forgot that I was ever angry in my life. I inhaled the salty sea air and let it out in a big sigh feeling content in the moment.
"Sup faggots" some dude said as he was walking by, moment ruined, and I honestly wanted to laugh because I couldn't believe there were assholes out there who still used the word faggot. I mean come on, it was twenty sixteen haven't people gotten over this shit yet?
I was pretty sure there were people out there who were marrying inanimate objects and screwing their pets. Was two guys being together really as weird as that?
"Sup hetero" Eli called back in a chill demeanour lifting his hand in a peace sign. "Are you making fun of me gay boy?" the dude asked stopping in his tracks to turn around and glare at Eli.
"This whole homophobic thing you have vibing from you is coming off very gay" Eli snorted. I stifled a laugh at the comment but my grin fell from my face as the guy stomped over to us and yanked Eli up by the collar of his shirt.
"What did you say to me?" he hissed in Eli's face, "Up this close in this lighting I find you very sexy" Eli said smirking before his tongue came out licking his lips in a suggestive manner.
