CHAPTER FIVE
I shook my head and continued down the stairs without a second thought. I could leave all the questioning stuff for later. But I knew at that point that we needed to leave and that Hunter was right. You don't want to mess with the team. Cain and I were once part of the best there but there were the others.
We pulled on our shoes and headed out the door.
Cain nodded to his car and we piled in; Hunter decided to drive. Cain sat next to me in the back while Kerri was in the front passenger's seat. Cain's red SUV was cozy but spacious at the same time, with comfortable faux leather seats.
"I don't trust him," Cain whispered in to my ear softly suddenly. I held back my reaction of disagreement.
"What do you mean?" I whispered just as soft back, clenching my fists.
"He just seems suspicious. For example how he seemed to know this would happen one day. Just stuff like that,"
I had to agree, it was fairly true. Hunter seemed oddly prepared for all of this and I couldn't get that thought out of my head.

I ended up falling asleep on Cain. When I awoke, I found his arm around me and him sleeping as well. I had never seen him sleeping before; never had I seen him look so peaceful.
"Des," Kerri whispered from the front seat.
"Yes," I yawned.
"Do you really trust Cain?" she asked me with her questioning eyes.
I almost rolled my eyes, What is up with this? Everyone telling and asking who we trust here?
"Do you trust me?" I asked her sincerely and she nodded without a second to spare. "Then trust me, I know Cain. He wouldn't double cross us. He and I are the same."
"Desdemona, you knew him, you used to be the same as him! You do not know what he is now or what he would or could do now. Don't be quick to trust him, especially someone in the business," she hissed glaring at Cain's sleeping form.
"Please, Kerri. I was once in that business too, and you trust me. I changed but you still trust me. Cain isn't that type of person, no matter what he's part of." I begged for her to understand and she stared into my eyes for a long few seconds before she finally nodded, turning to face the front again. Kerri crossed her arms, but I couldn't help but notice the smile on Cain's face, still "sleeping".
Was he eavesdropping?
***
I had no idea where we were going but Hunter had his plan that apparently Kerri knew about. Kerri was making sure he made all the right turns but otherwise Hunter was driving in a direction without problems.
It was a quiet drive and full of tension, much that I didn't want to break to ask where we were going. It was a rather stupid decision but I hadn't been exactly sane with the amount of sleep I had gotten.
***
We arrived approximately an hour later at a house. It looked like a beach house, seeing as the ocean was behind the house. It was a yellow, and almost similar to our original home, with the porch and shape.
