Skylar's mother, Kimberly gained consciousness in ten minutes. Skylar and I had to lift her unconscious body from the kitchen to the living room couch. She called her father and told him to come home now because it was an emergency. I called Liz and told her to tell Veronica and Kenneth i'll be home late.
We explained to Kimberly how we met at school. I told her what I had told Skylar in her bedroom, and she smiled sympathetically. Skylar told her what she told me, and she shook her head.
"There's something you need to know Skylar," Kimberly said. "You aren't my-"
The sound of the front door opening interrupted her.
"Sky sweety!" A male voice called. "Is everything okay."
"In the family room dad." She called back.
"What's the emergency?" He questioned. She looked at me. His eyes widened at me. There was something is his eyes, but it left as fast as it came. He looked at Skylar, then back at me.
"Please don't faint." Skylar said.
He looked at Kimberly. "Did you tell her yet?" She shook her head. "Skylar, we have something important to tell you, but it doesn't change anything."
"What is it?" She questioned. "I'm not adopted am I? Because that wouldn't make sense."
"You are." he clarified. She looked mortified. My stomach felt uneasy at that. So what if she was adopted, at least she had a family.
"But I've been here since birth," She argued. "There are pictures of you holding me at the hospital."
"After I had Scott, I couldn't have any more children," she explained. "I really wanted a daughter, so your dad suggested that we adopt. There was this young girl, who was pregnant. She wasn't financially stable to take of a newborn, so she was putting up her child for adoption."
"She agreed to give you to us, as long as she gets to see you." Her father continued. "Unfortunately, she died after you were born."
"I can't believe I'm adopted," she said. "I've been living a lie my whole life."
"Not because you're not biologically ours, means we love you any different." Her mother said touch her arm. She pulled away.
"That doesn't change the fact that I'm adopted." She spat.
"You're acting like it's a bad thing," I shouted at her. "You were loved. I had to go through hell, living with people who didn't even want me or loved me. Yeah, they didn't tell you but at least you have a family Skylar. You have a family."
I turned on my heels and headed to the front door, but it opened before my hand touched the knob to do so. There stood the boy from the picture, who I assume was her brother, Scott. I walked passed him without uttering a hello.
I didn't have a ride to go home, and I had no idea how to get to my home. A car was parked right outside, and a brown haired boy was sitting inside. I walked towards the car.
"Hey," I said. "You busy?"
"Skai, right?" He guessed. I nodded. "I'm not, what do you need?"
"A ride home." I said.
"Where do you live?" He asked. I told him my address and he nodded. "You're staying with the Parkers?"
Yeah," I answered. "How do you know their address?"
"I live next door. Get in." He said. I grinned and got in the car.
"So why do you need a ride home?" He questioned reversing out the driveway. "Didn't Skylar bring you here?"
