Fermenters
These are steel vessels that can be used to grown micro organisms for the substance we require.

Yeast are widely used to make bread and alcoholic drinks, such as beers and wine.
Yeast can be grown in an industrial scale in fermenters to produce enzymes and medicine, such as penicillin.

Conditions in a fermenter need to be carefully controlled to ensure the yeast growth in the quickest possible time. The factors include:
PH- if too acidic or alkaline the yeast enzymes may not function properly. In addition the yeast will not respire and grow, and may even die.

Other factors are:
Optimum temperature
Nutrients
Agitation
