Nightfall approached quickly, luckily for the both.

Ned quickly got dressed into clothes he could move easily in and ones that would be best to hide in and not stain.

He rummaged through the drawers of the small kitchen area and pulled out a big knife.

Ned examined it before a voice made him jump.

"You do remember what I told you, right?"

The voice was Kaneki's so Ned didn't feel the need to turn around.

"I do. It still doesn't hurt to have some sort of weapon, regardless whether or not it hurts the ghoul." Ned rolled his eyes.

"Whatever you say." Ned could imagine the image of Kaneki shrugging. "You ready to go?"

"Yeah." Ned replied and turned around, only for his eyes to widen.

Kaneki sat on the windowsill, a mask dangling from his face that had a lipless smile on it. His ghoul eye glowed in the dark of the room. He was dressed in loose, black pants, a black shirt and a black hoodie over it. The pants and hoodie had white designs on the pant legs and sleeves. His shoes were tied combat boots.

What really shocked Ned was the red tentacles coming out of Kaneki's back, waving side to side lazily.

"Wha-" Ned sputtered, blinking at the red appendages.

"You okay?" Kaneki asked, eyebrow raised.

"You never told me ghouls had tentacles." Ned said, eyeing them.

Kaneki blushed and objected. "They're not tentacles!"

"Then what are they?" Ned asked.

"Kagune." Was the clipped reply.

"So, that's what you meant by kagune today!" Ned realized.

"Yeah." Kaneki sighed. "Anyhow, not all ghouls have this kind of kagune. My kagune is rinkaku. It comes from my lower back. There are four types of kagune. Ukaku comes from between the shoulder blades and are usually wing like. They can harden, turn sharp, even shoot spikes, which makes them wary to watch for. It's the type Touka has, the girl I told you about. Koukaku comes from below the shoulder blade. It can wrap around an arm as protection and stretch like rinkaku, but it's a bit more limited. Rinkaku, like mine, come from the lower back. They do kind of look like tentacles, but they aren't. Rinkaku can shape themselves if trained properly, and then harden, making it a dangerous kagune. Lastly, binkaku comes from the tail bone. It is sort of like rinkaku, but it's more like a tail of sorts than tentacles. It is also limited to its stretch length." Kaneki explained.

"Wow. That's a lot of info. So, some ghouls have matching kagune?" Ned asked.

"No, not at all." Kaneki answered. "Though many ghouls may have the same type of kagune, it's never the same. For example, Touka's ukaku are flaming, red wings. Her kagune is deformed, making one wing smaller than the other by a noticeable difference. Her brother, Ayato has ukaku too, but they are not deformed. They are the same size and are flaming red like Touka's. The difference is that his turn to a dark navy blue color about halfway to the tip of the wing. They also have a darker outline. Rinkaku and binkaku users can have different numbers of kagune as well."
