Hide explained all that had happened during after coming back to life.
"I guess I'm going to have to explain a few things to your parents." Kaneki scratched his cheek sheepishly.
"Not if you don't want to." Hide objected. "If anything, I'm the one who's going to be explaining stuff. You don't have to do anything you don't want to."
"Thanks." Kaneki smiled, but on the inside he felt as if he would tell Hide's parents anyway. They should know who Hide was spending his time with and what dangers he was facing doing so.
"So," Kaneki continued. "What do you think the CCG will do?"
"Not sure. I'm hoping they'll go the hell away." Hide sighed. "I can't make any assumptions, though. The best thing to do is to keep an eye out."
Kaneki nodded. "Agreed."
"You know," Hide hummed. "I'm curious as to how many times I can die and come back."
Kaneki jolted before scowling, punching Hide in the shoulder lightly, enough to hurt him but not enough to break his arm. "Don't try anything! I'm not fond of finding out!"
"I'm kidding, I'm kidding!" Hide held his hands up, laughing. "Jeez, you pack a mean punch! I can still remember the times when your punch was as harmless as a butterfly!"
Kaneki cracked a smile. "Yeah, well, I've grown up. I was hoping you did, too. You're seriously telling me you can't take a slight nudge? I held back a lot of strength!"
"I figured!" Hide smiled widely. "This brings back a lot of memories. When we were young."
Kaneki smiled as he remembered when he was once young, innocent, and human, Hide by his side.
