I woke up at about 8 am, still clutching onto Sam. The house was freezing because the power was still out, but he was keeping me warm. I turned my head a little to look outside the window, and the snow was at least 2 feet high. I sighed and turned my head to look at Sam, who was just now starting to wake up a little. Maybe I could try something . . .

I closed my eyes and steadied my breathing so that it looked like I was asleep when Sam was waking up. I felt him shift a little and fully wake up. I heard him sigh and felt his head move. Soon I felt him giving me little kisses all over my face; on my cheeks, forehead, nose. After about a minute of this, I shifted a little and pretended to wake. When I opened my eyes, Sam was staring at me.

"Good morning," I said and looked up at him.

"Good morning to you, too," he replied and smiled.

"Why did you wake me up?" I asked him.

"I wanted someone to talk to," was Sam's answer.

"Ok, what do you want to talk about?"

He shrugged. "I don't know."

I raised my eyebrows. "So you woke me up on a snow day so that you could talk to someone, but you don't know what to talk about?"

"Fine!" he said, trying to act mad yet failing to hide a smile.

I sighed and sat up. "Come on, let's make breakfast."

He groaned. "Fine."

I stood up, ran my hand through my hair, and looked down at Sam, who was hesitating to get up.

I started waking away towards the kitchen. "Ok, fine, I guess you don't want food then," I called over my shoulder.

"Well when you say it like that I might as well join you," he said, got up, and made his way to the kitchen. The power was still out, but the way the sun was gleaming off of the freshly fallen snow and through the windows, we didn't really need any light.

"Wait, did we ever clean up the- nope, no we didn't," I said as I stepped into the kitchen and onto a pile of flour.

"What did you say?" Sam asked. "Oh," he said as he also stepped in the flour. "Maybe we try, like, vacuuming it?" he suggested.

I sighed. "It's worth a shot." I went over to a closet near the front door and took out the vacuum, covered in a layer of dust.

We finally got everything cleaned up, and by then we decided that leftover pizza would be alright for breakfast.

"Pizza is so much better cold," said Sam.

"Agreed," I replied and got another piece. We ate until we couldn't, basically finishing off the pizza. Then I heard a knock on the door.

"I'll get it," I said and walked over to the door. I put my hand on the freezing door knob and swing it open. Standing there were my few only friends.

When I said I had only one friend, I lied. I actually have 8 friends. They were Michael, Harper, Addi, Ian, Emma, Maya, Patrick, and Austin.

Now get ready to listen, 'cause here goes nothing:

Michael- about 2 inches taller than me, deep brown eyes, funny, extremely charming, can't help but be his friend, once you get to know him, he is insane and awesome

Harper- amazing, pale with auburn hair and blue eyes, is a great artist and singer, has a crush on Austin and Patrick but isn't quite sure yet, sensitive and knows how to handle feelings

Addi- fantastic, long blonde hair and blue eyes, shorter but it fits her, can sing like Rapunzel and it's awesome, is really into theater and Green Day (one of the reasons why we are friends), has a crush on Michael, gets life

Ian- pretty cool, greyish blonde hair with pale blue eyes, isn't very athletic but likes theater, can sing well, fanboy, broke Emma's heart and had to regain our trust, but other than that, he's ok

Emma- fabulous, has the best singing voice I have ever heard, loves Panic! at the Disco (who doesn't?), has short blonde air and blue eyes, very pretty but doesn't realize it, had a big crush on Ian for a while and dated him, but it didn't end well

Maya- cool, we call her Jet though because she has jet black hair and brown eyes (if you hear me say Jet, I mean Maya), loves 21 Pilots (same), says she is emo, but I am way more emo than she is, she can play the piano really well

Patrick- goofball, really truly an idiot, always lightens the mood, messes around a lot, has blue eyes and dirty blonde hair, likes Harper and HATES Austin

Austin- super funny, always makes adult jokes that Addi doesn't get, has curly brown hair and freckles, he's a cute little puppy dog, can easily find a way to make us laugh, likes Harper and HATES Patrick

And that pretty much sums up my group. We have all had fights before, but we always stay friends. Being in the eight grade, there has been a lot of drama with boys and feelings and all that crap, but we still fight through it together. There have been many love triangles in the group, as well. Bad things have happened, but we all love each other. Back to right now.

"Hey Carter!" Michael said happily and smiled. "Uh, can we come in? It's freezing," he asked and blushed. Did I forget to mention that I also have a crush on Michael? Yeah, but with competing with Emma and Addi, I have no chance whatsoever. So, I step back and let them go for him.

"Yeah, of course. You guys look cold," I say and step back so that they can file in. Harper smiled at me and nodded her head to Austin and Patrick. I rolled my eyes and smiled back.

"What's up, wimp?" said Jet.

"Nothing much loser," I said and laughed.

"Carty!" screamed Patrick while Austin scoffed.

"Patricia!" I screamed back. Yes, this is the same Patrick that has a locker next to mine.

"Uh, Carter? Who's here?" called Sam from the kitchen. Shoot, I forgot he was here, I thought. He suddenly came into view from the kitchen, pulling on a shirt. He saw everyone and blushed.

"Oh, hi. How's it going-" then he saw Michael. "What are you doing here?"
