Hi and thanks for reading! Hope you enjoy!
"I have to go," Dad said while giving me a kiss on the head.
"Why am I not surprised," I say dully.
"Come on, Carter. I'll only be gone for two weeks."
"Dad, I think you and I both know that we have enough money for you to stop going on business trips," I said while spinning around on the kitchen stool to face him.
"Carter, I am gonna be late for my flight," my dad said sternly.
"Oh, and God forbid you be late for your flight." And now you, as the reader, are thinking But Carter, why are you so angry at your dad for going away on business? It's not like he does it all the time. Well, he actually does. It is December 22 and I have only seen my dad twice this month, counting right now. And he is going to be gone on Christmas. But wait Carter! You still have your mom! Oh yeah, the mom I can't stand. The mom how I can't consult about anything without getting judged and punished. The mom who thinks that school has not changed from when she was my age (14) and believes she is and will always be right.
"Goodbye, Carter," my dad said with a slight frown/scowl and walked out the door. Again.
