Mikey looking pretty fine up there^^
Btw this chapter is going to be kinda short sorry
My group got worse and worse.
Austin no longer hangs out with us. He flat out avoids me. He won't even sit with us at lunch. The only person he talks to is Harper. That makes 6 of us.
Harper is always off with Patrick or Austin. Her relationship with the two boys took up too much space for her relationship with her friends, so now we only really talk by exchanging simple hellos and the occasional small talk. That makes 5 of us.
Patrick has started worrying about competing with Austin for Harper, which has taking over his life in the process. But when he isn't worrying about that, he is sitting with his baseball buddies at lunch, if not accompanied by Harper. If Harper is with him, though, they sit in the far corner away from everyone else. We are still friends, but we hardly hang out anymore, which I kind of miss. He was always fun to hang out with and he always helped take my mind off of my troubles with a joke or something like that. That makes 4 of us.
Then there is Michael. We don't talk. We don't text. You don't interact in general. We don't even look at each other. Everyday at lunch he sits next to Kayla, and across from Addi who has now permanently turned a sickly shade of green due to evy. Every now and then, I will catch him staring at me in random classes or at lunch, but nothing more than that happens. That makes three of us.
Jet, Emma, and I had figured all this out in the span of two days. It was Thursday. I had about 3 day to decide whether or not I was going to move to New York City with Jasper, or if I was going to stay here. And I still had not told anyone. Today I wanted to change that.
"Guys, I need to tell you something." We were sitting at the usual table, but this time it was just us three.
"We need to tell you something too," Emma said.
"You go first then, I'm curious," I said with a smile.
"Ok, well . . . um . . . do you wanna tell her?" Emma asked Jet.
"No, you go ahead," Jet replied and munched on a pretzel.
"Ok, so, me and Jet are . . . uh . . . like, a thing," she told me awkwardly.
"You two are dating?" I asked.
"Yeah . . . pretty much," Emma said.
There was a moment of silence.
"How am I just now realizing how cute of a couple you two are?" I said in disbelief. Jet smiled and Emma sighed, obviously relieved.
"Oh, thank god! I was so worried that you were going to be mad, you know, with us being your friends and all," Emma rambled. Jet just chuckled and stared adoringly at Emma. Emma kept rambling and Jet kept staring. I just sat there thinking, So this is how it's going to be from now on, huh? Jemma, the power couple and their third wheeler, Carter.
I wasn't going to do that. I wasn't going to be the tag along with Jet and Emma. Things wouldn't be the same. I wouldn't be able to talk to them as easily as I once did. They were together now, and I was put in their back pockets.
"I'm sorry, Carter, I was talking a lot. What were you going to tell us?" Emma asked once she had finished her rant.
The word 'third wheel' and 'pity friend' floated around in my head as I thought of what to tell them. I knew if I said 'never mind' they would know something was up and eventually force it out of me.
They were still both looking at me with curious eyes, waiting for an answer. I wasn't going to lie to them. I couldn't do that. There are people that I would be willing to lie to all day, everyday, but Jet and Emma were not those people.
I swallowed hard before finally saying, "I'm moving to New York City."
