"We have a problem, the guys are stuck in traffic. How are we going to perform without them?" Gilbert was at his wits end, I have never seen him actually admit that there was a problem that r couldn't fix. "What about that song you sang for me the other day? The one with just the guitar? You could sing that, right?"
"I don't know, it's not near ready and besides the program says 'infinity' is going to perform, not just me." I knew he was going to get his way eventually, there was only 30 minutes before we went on.
"Come on Anne, I can learn the melody quick and make up some harmonies on the piano." His expression looked desperate. Who knew that becoming the leader of a band would make Gilbert show more emotion."Alright, fine. But we are turning it into a duet."
"Deal."

"Ready?" He whispered in my ear as he pulled me in for one last embrace before we performed."Ready as I'll ever be." I tried to sound confident, but he knew that I was scared out of my mind.
"You can do it. I believe in you." And with that, we walked onto the stage.
The auditorium was packed and who would be front and center but no other than Luke. Sitting there with a slight smirk on his face. When he saw me staring, he gave me a wink and a thumbs up.
Gilbert walked over to the mic with me and whispered good luck before going over to the piano. "I know that the program says that the whole band performs, but the rest of them are stuck in traffic, so it's just us." He told the audience. I've always admired his confidence. He looked over and smiled at me ad I took that as my cue.
I looked slightly over the audience, then back at my guitar. I positioned my left hand over the strings and fixed the pick in my right. And I started to sing.
When we finished the whole auditorium was on their feet cheering. I felt Gilbert's hand wrap around my waist. Next thing I knew, he pulled me in for a kiss. The crowd roared so loud I was sure that there was permanent damage to my ears.
"I told you they would love you." He said moments after the kiss. Now there were two reasons I couldn't stop smiling.
We walks off the stage and I had a grin on my face from war to ear. I hadn't realized that his arm was still around my waist, but I didn't want him to let go. I needed him to keep me from flying
We put out instruments down in the band room, but he didn't let me stay for long. I had barely put down his guitar before he was pulling me outside. His pace was faster than normal, more urgent I guess. Instead of turning for the parking lot, he just went straight for the band trailers that were parked there.
"Anne, we don't have much time before we have to go back out there, so I'll make it quick. For a few months now I have had a crush on you. And not until tonight have realized that its more than that. I love you Anne Shirley. And there is nothing in this world that can change the way I feel about you," I interrupted him by planting my lips on his. He wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me in closer.
We stood there, lost in the moment, for what felt like forever. I didn't want it to end.
When I finally opened my eyes, he had the goofiest grin plastered on his face, which was accented by my bright red lipstick smudged all over his lips.
