"Hey babe, you okay to finish loading by yourself? I have to go take care of a few things."

It had been a week since our movie night, seven days of almost happiness. We had just finished a benefit gig for the school, and Gil had had a rough night.

"Yeah, I'm good," I replied and kissed his cheek. That had become common for us now. Little acts of PDA. Nothing big, mostly just forehead kisses and holding hands occasionally. I had started to feel something for him that I had never felt before. Every time I was near him, I got this sensation in the pit of my stomach that usually wasn't there, every time he looked at me my heart skipped a beat, my skin burned wherever he touched it, constantly wanting more. I hadn't felt this way ever since...

"You guys were great tonight," he said as he put his hands low on my hips, "you know, I would love it if you would sing for me sometime Baby-cakes." His hands were slowly inching their way around my waist as he wrapped me in his powerful grasp. Even though I couldn't see his face, there was only one person who ever called me that. He nuzzled his chin into my neck as he wrapped his arms tighter around my hips.
"You can't leave me this time Baby-cakes. You're mine now. He whispered in my ear. His arms were too tight, too low. He was too close, too strong. I tried to get away but every time I moved he just held on tighter.
"I missed you so much, don't stay away so long next time Baby-cakes."

"Don't call me that."

"Oh really, and who is going to stop me Baby-cakes? I already took care of that tool of a boyfriend. Tell me, what does he have that I don't?" His hand was slowly inching its way under my coat, under my shirt. He was slowly forcing me toward the side of the van.

"There's no one here to save you Baby-cakes, so just give in." He forced my back to the van as one hand unbuckled my belt and found its intended target and the other to my mouth. With every touch I wanted to scream.

"If you even think about making any noise I'll give you something to scream about later." He whispered in my ear as he touched me.

My skin was burning, crawling from his touch. I was trying so hard not to cry. I decided just to close my eyes and wait it out.
"Get your fucking hands off of her."
I barely heard Gil, I had tried so hard to turn off everything that I had no idea what was happening until it was almost over.
Gil had a bloody face, his hands had cuts on them and he was limping pretty bad. Yet he still had the strength to take on the biggest guy in the school, and give him a run for his money.

They threw punches back and forth for awhile. I was frozen, Someone was actually stopping Luke from taking full advantage of me. Nobody had ever done that before.
Gil threw a final punch to Luke's jaw to drop him. Like fell to the ground almost immediately. Gil simply wiped as much of the blood as he could off his face and hands before coming over to me. I still couldn't move, but I could feel the cool winter night air on my exposed skin and on the rivers of tears streaming from my eyes. Gil gently fixed my clothes, buckled my belt, and started wiping my face off.

"It's okay, I will never let him hurt you again. I'm here now, it's okay, it's okay," I couldn't hold back the tears anymore.

"You think you fixed everything Gilbert Blythe, but I've already laid my claim on that whore more than once!" Luke was trying to stand back up.

"Give me one minute please," Gil let go of me to go over to him on the ground, leaned over and whispered something to him, and walked back over and pulled me into his warm embrace.

"Come on, your staying at my house tonight."
