I woke up the next morning to Gil practicing Mooney's song. Even though it wasn't new to me, it still had the same impact. I turned over to find him, but I didn't see him. I sat up an stretched there was water running and steam coming out of the bathroom door. It wasn't like Gil to leave to door open when he showered, or sing for that matter.
"Marry me, and slow dance with me in our bedroom, with candles on the nightstand. Marry me, yeah, marry me, oh wont you marry me.
Let me love you forever and ever,
Marry me"The water turned off,and I heard the curtain being pulled back. He was still humming the tune of the song, it was a catchy tune, one that gets stuck in your head once you've heard it.
He walked out of the bathroom in a towel. It was the first time I saw him without a shirt on, he always made it a point to wear clothes when we slept together. Gil wasn't built, but he had muscle. He stood there running his fingers through his wet hair, surveying the room for clean clothes.
I studied his every feature, trying to embed his image in my mind. My eyes followed the lines of his muscles, starting at his jaw, then to his shoulders, his abs, his...
"Oh, sorry, I didn't know you were awake," he blushed as he said it, making him instantly sexier.
"It's okay, you don't have to..."
And then the towel fell off.

He drove to school and I sat in the passengers seat quiet as a mouse. I couldn't get the image out of my head, him standing there with his towel around his feet. I kept trying to look at him, to start a conversation, but he just stared straight ahead with a white knuckle grip on the steering wheel. His face was still red, but I didn't understand what he had to be embarrassed about."I'm sorry Anne, I didn't mean to... I just... I'm just...sorry." His face got even redder.
"I told you it's okay Gil, and it's not like I haven't seen it before." I could feel the blood rushing to my face this time.
"I just, I don't want you comparing me to him." I couldn't believe he actually said that. Gil has never acted insecure before, I had no idea how to respond.
We drove the rest of the way to school in silence, the only move that we made was when Gil put his hand on mine, just letting it rest there until we got to the school. Gil stopped the car, but didn't make a move to open the door, but instead looked me straight in the eye.
"Okay, so what happened happened, but do you think we could keep it to ourselves? I don't want people thinking bad of you because of me."
"I promise. And Gil, thank you, I have never met a guy who actually cares about a girls reputation. It's really sweet of you."
Gil just smiled, kissed my hand and got out of the car. We walked together into the school, hand in hand. He was still nervous, he kept looking at me. I had enough of it. He walked me to class and bent over to kiss my forehead goodbye, and I let him.
"Don't feel bad, it happens, okay? And besides, your bigger," I whispered in his ear. His face got bright red as he realized what I had just said, but a smile had found it's way to his face. My job here was done.
