Iris: Your Friendship Means So Much to Me
Kozume Kaori's POV:
I woke up to the smell of fresh, pancakes. To my right was a plate of freshly made pancakes, with a few strawberries on top. As I took a bite, the food seemed to melt in my mouth. There is no way Tsu made this. I put on my glasses, and looked around the room. Next the the pancakes, there was a yellow note, with neat handwriting on it.
Feel free to take a shower Apple Juice-san. It is the last door down the hall. There should be a towel already on there for you. My mother insisted on me giving you the pancakes.
From this note, I would have to assume his mother made the pancakes. I grabbed my clothes, and headed to the bathroom. A green towel sat on the counter, so I placed my clothes on top. I took of my bra and pants, and made sure the door was locked. As I stepped into the shower, I though about how loud Tsukishima's snoring was. I woke up at 1 am to that damn sound. The warm water ran down my body, and I quickly washed my body
I got out of the shower, and dried my hair. I avoided looking at the mirror as much as possible. As I got changed, I heard a loud noise com from the living room. As I walked over there, I saw a blonde mop of hair peeking out from behind the kitchen counter. Tsukki was just lying there on the floor, with a frying pan next to his foot. "Um, Tsukishima? Are you okay?" I asked. He just groaned, and tried to get up. I grabbed his hand, and helped him get up.
"You aren't 183 centimeters," he said.
"What? How would you know? Why do you even care?" I pried.
"You aren't that far off from my height. Maybe 184 centimeters," he coldly stated.
"That can't be possible. Asahi is apparently 184.7 centimeters, according to him. I am definitely shorter than him," I retorted.
"You hang around him so much, and he is barely taller than you. Just by a bit."
"Okay, okay, whatever," I said, waving him off. I uwent and got changed, and finished the pancakes. "Tsu? Did you have anything for breakfast yet?"
"No, why?" he responded. This guy I swear. No wonder he's so skinny. I handed him the remaining pieces of pancake, signaling for him to eat. He took a bit, eyes widening. I have to admit, his mother makes one mean pancake. I waited for him to eat, and handed him his bag. As we left the house, I stopped and turned to him.
After waiting a moment, I spoke up. "You snore really fuckin loud," I informed the blondie. He furrowed his eyebrows, and kept walking. When I looked over at him, all I noticed what his bright red ears. He is so weird.
"Was that really necessary? I mean I get tha-"
"Because you made fun of me for having that donkey plush," I retorted immediately.
"After you made fun of me for the dinosaurs," he threw back at me.
"Fair enough," I conceded, ending the conversation. After that, it was just awkward walking, for about 30 minutes. Oops. As I walked into the gym, I was basically attacked by the third years.
"Did he hurt you, are you okay? What happened," the setter worriedly asked.
"What did you eat? I swear if he did anything," Daichi warned. I looked to Asahi, who hadn't said anything yet.
"Did you at least sleep somewhere acceptable?" he timidly inquired. I nodded happily, and the three boys sighed in relief.
"You wouldn't have had to worry so much if someone hadn't forced me to stay with someone other than Oikawa," I groaned.
"I DONT TRUST HIM," the black-haired setter yelled from across the gym.
"I've known him for years now Milk-san~" I sang. He huffed, and continued practicing. I grabbed a volleyball, and tapped on Noya's shoulder.
"Ah, Noya? Can you receive my serves?" I politely requested.
"Why?" he responded
"Oikawa was teaching me his crazy serve! I want to try it out on someone I know is good at receiving," I said, and his cheeks turned bright red. "Well?"
"O-of course!" he said, and ran to one side of the court. I backed up, and threw the ball up as high as I could. When I jumped, I heard a chorus of 'oohs' and ahhhs.' I strike the ball down onto the other side of the court. When my eyes adjusted, I saw Noya running to save it, but he couldn't catch up.
"Seriously? How even?!?" Kags yelled once again. "C-can you teach me?" I nodded, and tried again. At about the fifth time, Shorty was having less trouble catching up. Eventually, he managed to save about 90% of them!
"Good job Noya!" I praised the libero. He cheered, and we moved on. This time, I asked the dynamic duo (Gingy and Kags) to try out their freaky quick. Kiyoko tossed him the ball, and I saw HInata running up. Kageyama set it, and Hinata closed his eyes, and swung. I sprinted to where he hit it, and saw it hurtling towards me. The ball violently hit my forearms, making them sting. They tried about 10 more times, but to no avail. But, they were clearly holding back.
"How come you get it every time?" the short first year complained.
"Because you close your eyes, I can easily predict it's trajectory. Your moves are amazing, but soon become repetitive and easy to interpret. I recommend learning other attacks," I suggested. They both nodded, and kept practicing. Coach Ukai and Take came in, with a piece of paper in their hands.
"Eh, Coach, what is this?" I pried.
"They announced the brackets for Inter-High! Look," he beckoned. I took it from his hands, and took a look. Our first match was with...Tokonami? I know a lot of teams, but not this one. Unfortunately, we might have to have a match with Dateko. And even if we manage to beat them, we will probably go against Aoba Jousai. At least we won't play with Nekoma. After all of those times Hinata suggested a rematch, they never won once.
"Cool! Hinata, Kageyama, did you work on those signals I told you about?" Suga asked the two boys. They nodded excitedly, and went over them. After a few minutes of chatter, the team got back to work. They worked on back end spikes, and I joined in. Even if I knew how, what harm could practice do? Since I am not familiar with Tokonami, I'm guessing they aren't necessarily a power house school. But still, we have to be prepared for anything and everything. They might have a oddball duo of their own. Never underestimate your opponents.
"Before we end up underestimating our opponents, I'd like to warn of of a few possible outcomes of the first match. If we win, we will go up against Dateko. The are known as The Iron Wall. Crazy blocking man. Watch out, okay?" I told the team.
"Yes, but we should focus on our first match," Daichi informed us, and I nodded.
"Ah Sawamura-san, always trying to one-up me," I teased the captain.
"Ah, Kozume-chan, alwqays wanting to be the center of attention," he shot back.
"H-hey!"
