From then on, I untied 304 from where he sat. He stood up and began rubbing his wrists.
"What's going on Logan? This was your plan?" He asked me.
"Yes." I replied.
"Okay, well you killed Dynam. What now?"
I ran to the door to get out but it was locked from the outside. I tried to pick lock it with the spring but it was no use. It must have been double or even triple locked from the other side. There was the end of my plan. I didn't know what to do from here.
"304! Listen, I have a stash of guns and weapons under my bed in my cell. I need to tell other prisoners that it's there. I'm creating a revolution in here. We're turning this thing around. But I need a way to tell them where they are! Help me. Please."
304 thought about it for a second but just threw everything aside and looked around the room. "The microphone!" He said pointing to it and then making his way over. "When Allice was still alive, he taught me how to rewire connections in the area and connect to different stations. If I can just figure out one thing, we'll be foolproof." He said rewiring the back of the radio and connecting it to the microphone. "You're live. To the entire prison." He told me.
I stepped up to it and began talking. "This is Logan Brady! Number..." I paused and looked back to my arm, it had raised to a 445. "Number 445. It is time we rise up against the security here and Reckt herself. I'm locked in a room in the security center and let me just tell you that Dynam is dead!" I could see on the monitors that people were excited and cheering. I then continued, "In the hall is my cell. Under my bed are guns and anything you need to take on the guards! Get there as fast as you can and put on a fight. We're starting a revolution. Make it happen! Fight back for once!" I stepped away from the microphone and watched the monitors as everyone bolted towards my cell.
"Do you think we'll get out of here?" 304 asked me. Before I could answer a giant noise slammed against the door. All of a sudden the door broke of the hinges and Reckt came through. She saw Dynam on the ground dead. She grabbed a taser that was on the other side of her instead of her gun and shot 304 with it. He started shaking and couldn't handle the electricity and not long after fell to the ground.
I ran at her but she must have been expecting that because when I got close enough, she held out a manual taser and electrocuted me until I hit the ground. That's all I remember from then. When I regained consciousness, she was standing over 304 and I but we weren't tied up.
"Can you let me talk for a second?" Reckt asked.
Though I was so eager to kill her, I gave her a second to plead her case. Who knows. Maybe she wanted to beg for her life.
"Logan, I have something to give to you." She reached into her pocket and I was expecting her to pull out a gun or something to kill me with. But she didn't. She pulled out a small gray box. I had seen it before. With the red and green button. She made me use it before when she made that robot kill himself. She set it down in front of me.
"Flip it over." She told me.
I grabbed the box and turned it to the back side of it. I froze. Carved into the back of it was the number 304. I turned to him and showed him. He was confused and frankly, so was I.
"He's one of them Logan." Reckt informed me.
I turned back to him again and then back to Reckt. I didn't know who to believe.
"Logan! You don't believe her do you? Really? I shared my entire story with you. You know my real name! You know why I'm here! My son, the babysitter. You know! Don't deny it."
I looked back to Reckt and she explained. "Every cyborg is implanted with a memory chip that is different from the others. We come up with a reason for why everyone is here. For this case, 304's babysitter let his child almost drown. So he beat her to death. Only, he has no child, he has no babysitter, he has never even been to Earth. He was made here. He's a robot."
I looked back to 304 as he climbed to his knees and faced me. "Logan, I opened up to you about everything. I'm real. You know I am."
My entire brain was fried right now with information that I didn't believe to be true, nor false.
"In case you haven't made up your mind yet. We tape all of our cyborgs when their constructed and named." Reckt walked up to one of the monitors and threw in a C.D. I watched. It was 304, but as she re-winded the tape, it revealed how he was constructed from metal and just plain scrap. She let me sit there and watch the whole thing. Towards the very end, they showed his name. Francis Elgando. 304.
I stared at 304 after the video stopped playing and I just couldn't believe it. He was my friend from the very beginning and now this?
"Logan, please. This can't be. I remember my life! I remember my kid, I remember the girl I had my kid with. I remember when I came here, I remember my court date, I remember everything!"
"None of it happened." Reckt said. "It's all internal memory we came up with. You're a machine designed to survey the prison. Logan, how do you think we found you in that desert? All cyborgs have tracking devices on them. We knew about your deals with Dexter. Everything you talked to 304 about, you were telling right to our face. If you don't believe us, press the red button."
