He shrugged his shoulders and put his hand on my back, leading me into his cell. I turned around to feel a wicked jab to my face as I fell back to the ground. Phil grabbed me by the shirt and pulled me back to my feet where he shoved me and pinned me against the wall. I didn't know what he was capable of, I had never seen him get violent before. I stayed still as he gave me the most disappointing look anyone had ever given me.
"How?" He asked.
"How what?" I replied, answering his question with another question.
"There's only one way they knew we were there! Who did you tell! How did you tell them! Or was it one of your friends? The one who left? Guess he got what was coming to him!"
That pushed me past my limit and I answered back with hitting my forehead to his. He stumbled back and I yelled for him to stop all of this. That it didn't make sense for us to snitch. We were all trying to escape, why would we ruin our chances by telling Reckt or Dynam? Or anyone for that matter. And that's exactly what I told him. It was like he just lost all of his common sense. And right then is when he sighed and calmed down before speaking again.
"If it wasn't you, Jaquil, 304, me, or any of recruits, then it would be impossible for them to find us. Physically impossible." He told me. So someone had to be keeping secrets. Now I would never want to consider 304 a traitor, but at this moment in time, I couldn't trust anyone but myself. Before leaving Phil's cell, I filled him in on the plan that would be happening soon. He didn't believe it would work but he said him and his friends would give it their all.
I exited through Phil's cell door and began walking down the hall. For some reason, these halls were staring to grow on me. Not really, but they were good for long walks when I needed time to think. For example, how I was going to get all I needed out of 304 and his connections with Reckt and Dynam. I entered his cell one more time.
"The day's almost over. You should probably head back to your cell before the guards come and take care of you."
Why would they take care of me and not him? He was hiding something. He knew something I didn't.
"Who did it? Did you do it?" I asked him. He seemed confused but I knew he understood clearly and I was ready to beat it out of him. Even though 304 was one of my greatest friends I could ever have, things needed to be done.
"Do what? What the hell are you talking about?" He asked me getting all offensive. I approached him closer than before and he stood up fast like he was ready to throw a punch.
"304, tell me what you know! How is it possible that we were caught? Stop hiding things!" I screamed at him while he gazed into my eyes, I could see rapid anger inside him that just wanted to explode any second. And it did. He stood up to his feet and gave me a thrusting shove that pushed me out of his cell.
"I thought we were friends! And you want to blame me for how Reckt found us? Pathetic! I thought you were better than that!" I tried to interrupt but he cut me off and kept on going, "Logan, I have been here seven years. Seven years Logan. My son was a few months away from a year when I left, now he's seven years old. I don't even know where he is. You think I would jeopardize our situation, our possibility of staying, when right now I could be snuggling at home with my son watching cartoons? Getting him up and off to school every day? Picking him up from school? Buying him anything his little heart desires? By now he probably just thinks I'm dead because let's just face the facts. No one ever leaves ECO SEC."
I sat there silent. He was right. Again, like he always is. No one escapes ECO SEC. Because ECO SEC wasn't just the prison, ECO SEC owned this whole planet basically. And if they could find us in a hole in the desert, then you can be found anywhere. We didn't just have to escape the prison, we have to escape the planet as well. So unless someone knows how to build a rocket ship, we were stuck here for the rest of our lives.
Then I started thinking about what Prisoner 500 kept hinting at. Illegal, then legal. Illegal then legal. Illegal then legal.
"304, I trust you, I really do. I don't think you had anything to do with it, but if you ever want to see your son again, you have to help us all out." I told him briefly.
"Who's us?" He asked.
"The whole rebellion." I answered.
The number of guards started to build up in the halls and I knew it was about to be lights out. I told 304 to consider it, I pretty much begged him before walking back to my cell which was only a few steps away. I got inside, closed my cell door and before I knew it, Dexter, my lovely guard friend whispered to me. He was my check up. Like always, guards check every cell at night, he was checking mine, but really, he was confirming my order.
"Cafeteria! Tomorrow! Order the specialty and take it back to your cell. No one finds out about this." He broke away from my cell and continued to shout, "All clear!" And within a few seconds, hundreds of other guards joined in to yell it as well. And a few seconds after that, I heard Dynam's voice.
"Lights out!" He screamed, and then all I saw was darkness. I crawled into my ragged excuse for a bed and tried to get comfortable which was nearly impossible but I tried my best. I heard a creak in my room but I didn't think anything of it. I should have. I didn't know at the time but a large bucket of freezing cold, refreshing water dumped onto me. I screamed and tried to brush it all of but it soaked my clothes faster than I could imagine. I was grabbed hard by the shirt and thrown against the concrete floor. It was so dark that I couldn't see at all what was happening to me or who was even doing it.
I tried to fight back but the element of surprise was more surprising than anyone would think. I shouted and pushed back and punched and kicked in every direction but I just couldn't get this guy. I was whacked in the side of the face and I felt a large force sit on me and continue to beat me back and forth until I could barely even see the darkness, which really doesn't make sense.
But when they spoke, I knew who it was. "Whatever you're planning, shut it down now. Or else a lot of people are going to get hurt." The mysterious person told me before leaving me there halfway unconscious and barely able to move. They left my cell and I knew who it was. Dynam.
