I was trapped, alone, abandoned,
Surrounded by the thorns.
I was locked away, unheard of
In this place of much forlorn. Then I saw the light of You,
And You took me out.
You told me to stay here and watch,
"My love, you must not doubt."Then You ran back to the brambles,
And You dived in head-first.
They cut You up, You bled to death,
You were killed through the worst. When I saw Your bled-out body,
It was then I cried.
You saved my life, my debt is payed,
Because, for me, You died. And as I watched Your body there,
Tears streaming down my face,
The blood flowed back into the wounds,
My heart, it starts to race. You rise, but why? I saw You die.
They pierced You like a knife.
You came back because of love,
To give me a new life. This poem was written to be paired with a short story I wrote (which I will post on Wattpad when I get around to editing it). I tried to make it a song and wrote a lame chorus. The first four stanzas were all I had until maybe a year after I had written them. I finished it two years ago and I've had it memorized ever since. This poem is also from God. Thanks for reading! God bless you!
