Why I'm Not Afraid

I'm not afraid of the dark
The darkness is my friend
He lets me hide inside
And he doesn't have to end

I don't need to see the truth
Don't need to reveal the lies
I can just curl up
And I can close my eyes

He's sweet, my dark friend
Always there when I'm down
I take a deep breath
Lose myself in what surrounds

The light hurts, it reveals
The painful truth in me
That I could fall apart
If anyone looked to see

Smile wide for the light
Because all it is is fake
The darkness lets you hide
In a way that makes no mistakes

You can't slip up and let them see
When everything is black
That's why I'm not afraid
Of when my skin will start to crack
