Monica's POV
«»«»«»«»I indicated to turn left. Silence filled the inside of the car as I drove. I tapped my fingers rhythmically on the wheel. I had to say something, anything. Anything to break through the dreadful silence that we were sitting in.
In the corner of my eye, I saw Oliver sitting next to me. The setting sun filtered the light, making his face glow. His jaw was set; he was tense. And I knew that he was hiding something from me, and I hated it.
It was only a few moments ago that the incident happened. I had to drag Oliver out of Jasper's house after Jasper almost knocked him unconscious.
Mouse and I have were confused. Had these two known each other before? They must of been enemies in the past.
I sighed as I turn another corner. "Would you like to tell me what the hell that was about?"
After a moment, Oliver finally replied. "There's nothing to tell."
I laughed, but there was no humour behind it. "Oh really? I know that you're not telling me something. Oliver, we've been dating for weeks in secret because you couldn't deal with people knowing that you're dating. Who the hell are you, Oliver? Wait, is your name even Oliver-"
"Yes!" I flinched at his sudden anger in his tone. I was suddenly afraid that he was doing to hit me. I honestly don't feel worried when a man seems like he's going to hit you, but there was something about Oliver that made her stomach knot. He exhaled, a breath rushed from his lips. "Yes, Monica."
Silence filled the car again, but this time it felt like somebody hit her.
When I thought about it, this whole situation had been my fault. I mean, what was I thinking when I just decided that I thought it would be a good idea to get my boyfriend and our other friend to just invade their time together after a whole night together. Gosh, I'm so stupid sometimes.
I must have been griping the wheel tightly because Oliver spoke up and put a firm hand on mine. "Monica, you'll break the wheel if you grip any tighter-"
I snatched my hand away from his and the car swerved. In panic, I gasped and I straightened up the car just before we drove off of the road. "Just shut up, okay?" I said, my tone breathy; shocked.
"Crap, Monica. I was just going to tell you-"
"Oh, so you finally decided to tell me things, huh?" I snapped back and I saw Oliver wince. "Yeah, that's what I thought."
This time the silence had less weight to it, as if we had nothing else to say. That wasn't true, though. I still saw Oliver fidget in the corner of my eye.
I finally drove up his driveway but I didn't park the car. As he reached for the car handle, I locked the doors. "You're not leaving until you finally decide to tell me what is wrong with you."
He glances at me, frustration in his eyes. "Why does it matter."
I gave a half-hearted laugh and gave him a look. "Oliver, I'm dating you. Why the hell do you think it matters, idiot!"
