Jasper's POV

I indicated to turn onto Mouse's street. Next to me, Monica took a loud slip from her iced coffee. Her black hair spilled over her shoulder. She wore a grey tank with a brown leather jacket and dark denim skinny jeans. Dark brown boots covered her feet and a black scarf was wrapped around her neck.

An uneasy silence sat upon us like a blanket as I drove. I heard Monica fiddle with the straw of her cold beverage and I knew that she felt this tension too.

I haven't really seen Monica much lately because of her 'family drama'. But I've been having a bad feeling about these dramas. They're also every time that we all catch up. Are her parents against us or is she just making up an excuse to get out of hanging out with us?

"Did she even invite you over?" She said after her second loud and obnoxious slurp, breaking the silence. That snapped me out of my mind and back into reality. I had to slightly straighten my car.

"No." I replied slowly as I approached her familiar house. "But that's fine. She'll be fine with us."

"Us?" Monica turned to face me. "Jasper, I wasn't there when she forgave you. What if she hasn't forgiven me yet?"

I remembered that day when Mouse finally forgave me and I fought away the smile. The day that I chased her through the shops to carry her bridal style to her car. And she still owes me five kisses.

But Monica couldn't come because of the 'family drama'. That was the first time she'd said that.

"Hey, she tried to call you, didn't she?" I ask.

"Yeah." She replied slowly and hesitantly. "But-"

"But nothing, Monica. Stop being so worried." After that, silence hung over us until I pulled up into Mouse's driveway.

We had a nice view of her garden which looked well cared of. Green bushes sat in front of her house along with blooming daisies.

I then parked the car, locked the doors and turned to face her. "Is that why you've been using the excuse, 'family drama', for the past few days?"

Monica jerked her head up to look at me, her eyes a mixture of anger and sadness. Her cheeks were red along with her eyes. It looked like she was going to cry. "Hey, that's not an excuse. I've been telling the truth, Jasper."

"Then why do you have family dramas every time we have a social event together?" I interrogated her and I felt like a detective.

The gloomy glow of the cloudy light highlighted her face, showing her clear expressions. Her eyebrows seemed to tug together and her pressed lips seemed to twitch. Her cheeks seemed to be getting redder as I stared at her.

"Do you really think that I choose whenever I have a family drama?" She almost yelled.

"Yeah, I do, Monica." I said with a straight face. We both became silent and we just sat there, looking at each other.
