Carla POV
It's Saturday evening and Miranda should be getting here in about 15 minutes. I have everything ready the horses are ready and everything is packed. I'm so nervous this is officially my first date. Is it crazy that my first date is with my teacher. Trust me I never would have thought the day that I first saw Miranda that we would be where we are. After the other night when she opened up about her past I felt a stronger connection which I didn't think was possible. To think that this beautiful woman suffered and had to deal with things the way that I deal with them actually broke my heart.
I was awakened from my thoughts by the sound of the doorbell. I open the door and my mouth must've been open because she said "close your mouth you're gonna let it fly in."
I close my mouth quickly feeling the heat in my cheeks from embarrassment "you look beautiful" I said. Which in return got her cheeks to turn a rosy red. "Really because I'm in jeans and boots". She said playfully. "you would look beautiful in anything it doesn't matter what you wear" I said.
I grabbed her by the hand and led her to the stall where the horses were waiting. "The Painthorse which you'll be writing his name is Frisco" I then went and stood by my baby "this is Swisher". He is a beautiful Palomino horse and the smoothest ride I've ever been on. "You have ridden a horse before right.?" I asked.
She looked at me like I had just asked the dumbest question, "yes smartass, I have, just because I went to boarding school does not mean I'm not country." she glared at me. "Ok, Ok, just making sure don't need you falling off or anything." I grinned at her.She swung her leg up into the saddle and one swift motion she was in the saddle, I'm actually quiet shocked, I get on Swisher and we head out of the stall. "So where are we going, it looks like you've packed your house." she asked. I laughed "I needed to bring a few things ok, and we will be on horseback for about 3 miles, it's my secret hiding place." Most of the ride was silent, we filled in some of the time with small talk. Once we finally reached our destination I looked over at Miranda to see her reaction.
"Holy shit, it's beautiful. How did you find this place? she asked. "I had a bad night one night after my mom and sister died, I got on Swisher and he brought me here." We were currently surrounded by tree's, there was a small pond where you could here the crickets, and the frogs, but the best part about it was the sky was lite up. All you could see were stars. I came here a lot, this was my happy place, I never did anything bad here, I would always just bring a blanket and lay back and look at the stars.
I slid off my horse as well did Miranda, I grabbed the blanket and the basket I had packed. I laid the blanket out by the water and sat on it. Miranda was still just standing there looking at me, I patted the spot beside me for her to come sit down. I started pulling things out of the basket, I had packed fruit, and some sandwiches, I know lovely first date dinner, but I just wanted this to be us, chilled and relaxed.
As Miranda sat down she kept looking over her shoulder, "Um aren't you worried about wild animals?" I laughed which got me a bad look. "No for one the horses will let me know, they can sense things before we will even know something's there, plus I always bring a rifle just in case. You are safe I will protect you." I winked at her. I pulled out a bottle of wine, "I know I'm not old enough, we don't even have to open it, it's just to set the mood," I raised my eyebrows. She just rolled her eyes.
We ate our food listening to the beautiful sounds of nature, this place would never get old to me. I looked over at Miranda, the moon was reflecting off the water perfectly, and it made her eyes sparkle even more. I had a shiver run through my body. She scooted closer, "Are you cold?" she asked while wrapping her arms around me.
