Carla POV
I don't know how Miranda talked him to coming but she finally did, he should be here any minute now, I was nervous as hell, but this was something I needed to do. "Are you sure you want me to leave, I mean I could just go upstairs." Miranda asked.
"No, you need to go, I need to do this alone, when you get back, in an hour I will explain, I promise." I said.
The doorbell rang and David was at the door, neither one of them spoke, Miranda looked back at me and I just nodded. Once David stepped in, she stepped out and closed the door. He had a shocked look on his face.
"Don't worry I'm not going to kill you, even though I did think about it." I said.
He just looked at me, "Why am I here, and why did she leave? I thought we were having dinner." He said.
"We are, but first we need to talk." I said pointing to the living room, "Come sit down." I made my way over to the couch, but David never moved. "David please, this is not a game, it's not a sick joke, just sit and listen, if you want to stay after I'm done talking, then please do so, if you don't I will understand." I said.
He hesitantly walked to the recliner and sat down, "Look, I know what I said the last time you were here, and I had every right to say those things, but a lot has happened in the past couple of weeks and I came to the realization of something. I forgive you David. Seeing you miserable made me understand something, prison was never the answer for you to pay for what you did. Living with the fact of what you did on a daily basis is punishment, and I don't think I could be strong enough to do that. The fact that you came into mine and Miranda's lives for yourself, was brave. I'm just sorry I didn't see that when you tried to tell me. Should you have been driving drunk, no you shouldn't, but it was their time to go. If it was you behind that wheel or someone else, David. I need you to understand what I'm saying. You have a full life ahead of you, don't waste it, your a doctor, do something miraculous, live, because you are alive. Don't let what happened haunt you anymore, because if I know my family, they have forgiven you, I forgive you, because David, if it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have Miranda. Don't you see the circle, all bad things will come to something good, and for the longest time, I couldn't see it, I couldn't see through all the demons, and all the hell, but then I found Miranda, and I found my good at the end of the bad. Now you need to, because you are forgiven." I said, I was crying, ok, I was hysterical. I had realized this the other night on the bus, I needed him to know I was ok, that he would be ok.
I was still starring at him, he hadn't moved, and before I could think he was hugging me, "Thank you" he whispered. I hugged him back and I could tell that he was crying, the front door open and Miranda stood in the door way with a very confused look on her face. David turned around and let me go.
"Miranda come sit please" I said. I told her everything that I had told David, about the bad leading to the good which was her, of how he never was meant for prison, because he was punished every day, how I had forgiven him, I spared no detail. Now of course all three of us was crying, she hugged me first then turned to David, "You are my brother, and I love you David" she said and jumped into his lap.
The rest of the night went well, we ate dinner, laughed, and probably drank way to many beers, but it was great. I felt like I was part of a family again. Something that had been ripped away from me, was now starring me right in the face with open arms, just waiting for me to jump in. "David come out with me to meet my horses" I said. Miranda had went to the bathroom.
"Carla thank you." He said while we were walking to the stale.
"You deserve to be happy and everybody does, this is why now I need your help." I said. I laid my plan out to him, he was over joyed to say the least. He said he would do anything to help, which I was glad to hear. Graduation and the talent show was a month away so it was time to put my plan into action.
