A shallow sting below my false heart
Barely skin deep
Remains
Fresh
Tells me everything I need to know
Where were you
When my world fell apart
You stood beside me and did nothing
Eyes glazed with ambition
Mouth filled with sharp words
And where were you
When I needed you
All those empty promises smoke in the wind
Your silence fraught with intent
And the things you never said
Where were you
I had no hand to clutch
In the lonely night keeping me
Where were you
When I was bleeding you stood right next to me
And did nothing
A hollow deep in my chest
Echo the remains of my soul
