Chapter 11

Riley's POV
I stepped into the shower, and let the run water run down my back for a while. I will always take either a super fast shower or super long shower. There is no in between, and this time I knew it was going to be a long shower. I started thinking, and thinking, and thinking. Sometimes my head starts hurting, because I think so much. Lately I've been thinking of the same thing too. Like why Michael all of sudden showed up at our house that day, and what was so bad that me and Sarah had to stay here. Don't get me wrong, I'm pretty glad we did, but I wonder anyway.

I finished up my shower and got out, after I remembered that this was the only bathroom in the house, and someone was probably waiting for me to get done. I put on the clothes Pony gave me, which were big on me. I pulled the shirt back with a ponytail holder that was in my hair from last night, and tied the sweatpants as tight as I could. I washed the grease covered comb that was on the bathroom sink off, and pulled it through my wet hair. I took a quick glance in the mirror before I reached for the doorknob, and caught myself. My eyes snapped back to my reflection in the mirror. The print on my cheek was fully noticeable now that I had washed all my makeup off my face. "What am I gonna do?" I quietly whispered to myself. I searched the cabinet and the two drawers in the bathroom in search for something that I could put on my face. I don't know why I thought I would find anything, which I didn't, but I searched anyway.

"Knock knock," came a voice from outside. "You done in there yet?" Asked the voice. I

"Uhh... Yeah. Hold on," I said. I was a little panicked. I didn't know what to do. I made a the half-second decision to open the door, and just look down.

"Sorry," I said as stepped out. I knew it was Two-bit outside, by looking at his cowboy boots. He rushed straight into the bathroom holding the crotch of his pants and slammed the door. I went into Pony and Soda's room without a anyone bothering me and quietly shutting the door before locking it. I looked into the old dusty mirror that was propped up against the wall sitting I top of the boys' dresser. I touched my cheek, and it wasn't sore anymore. I imagined that it would go away in a few days, but I couldn't just hide in the bedroom for a few days. I had to do something.

"I could try covering it with my hair," I thought, "no that would never work. It's too spread out on my cheek," I told myself.

I was interrupted mid-brainstorm by a knock on the bedroom door.

"Umm...yeah?" I asked asked very hesitantly. My voice was high pitched and squeaky due to my nervousness. I knew if that was Ponyboy or Johnny out there I never would be able to convince them that I was fine. They would keep pestering me outside that door until I let them in. Well, Pony would at least. Johnny is too shy to do that. He would just go tell Pony and then he would come to the door, and you know what would happen next, so either way I lose.

"Are you all right in there?"

"Great," I mumbled to myself. I knew that voice too well. That was voice of the one and only stubborn headed Ponyboy Curtis.

"I'm fine," I lied. I stared in the mirror trying to figure out what to do. "Just tell him!" A part if me was saying, "no don't! It's too risky," another part if my brain said. "Ugh just arguing with myself is not going to help anyone!" I thought. I covered my face with my hands and shook my head fast. "What the hell am I going to do?!" I thought again.

"Can I come in?" Pony asked.

"Um...can I just be alone for a minute. I asked as sweetly as I could.

"Why? Is something wrong?" He pestered.

"No, I just need some space for a minute is all,"

"Riley, what's wrong?" He asked me like a was a small child.

"Nothing really," I asked a little more aggravated.

"Riley, I know something is wrong, I can hear it in your voice," he just couldn't leave anything alone, could he?

"Pony, could you please leave me alone?!" I yelled. I gasped loudly and covered my mouth with my hands. I've never yelled like that before. My eyes started fogging up as I stood there in shock at myself.

"Ok, sorry I asked," he said and I could hear only the tapping of his shoes as he began to walk down the hallway.

"Ponyboy, wait. I'm sorry!" I said as I slung open the door. He spun around on his heels and stood there with sad eyes and a slightly open mouth staring at my cheek. My hand flew up and covered my cheek as tears started to steadily flow down my cheeks, when I also noticed the rest of the gang staring along at the end of the hallway with surprised faces.

A/N: I know this is pretty short too...I'm sorry. :( my writing has sucked somewhat lately. Blech....I got to the part I needed to get to, so I didn't know what else to write. Anyways I left some stuff for you to think about in the first paragraph. Tell what you think some of the answers are to her questions Riley has been asking herself. That's all I got. Till next time stay gold my lovelies <3
