HE walks to me but I take a step back, my breathing ragged and tears wetting my cheeks.
I don't even know who he is anymore. It feels as if our whole relationship has been a pure lie. His dark hair is messy and rough and his eyes are wild with passion and heat like the sun during the summer. His clothes are slightly tattered but there isn't any signs of bruises or wounds. I sigh internally in relief.
"Chantelle, don't do that." His voice makes my heart soar with happiness but my stomach churns at the truth. His dashing green eyes search for mine but I look away, afraid that I'll soon break dow.
"Who are you?" I whisper, taking a step further, already broken.
"I'm Jaime Smoke." He whispers, his eyes lowering in disappointment.
"You lied to me about everything. Why?" I scoff, wanting nothing but the truth. I can't even stand to be near him, knowing that he basically lied to me about everything. How could I trust someone like that with my heart? How will be able to guarantee that he'll be there?
"To protect you." Coal assures, his voice calm and collected.
"Please." I say, rolling my eyes.
So many fucking lies.
"It's the truth. I care so, so much about you Chantelle." Coal pleas, his green eyes softening and watering up.
"You lied to me." I mumble, closing my eyes. "You lied."
He sighs and I hear him take bait her step closer to me but I stay rooted to my spot, his presence too much for me to even process everything.
"My name is Jamie Smoke. I'm 18 years old. I'm the descendent to Jonathan Smoke, who had been killed by Dimitri. He left me The Chip in his will and told me to protect it will all my heart.
Dad didn't tell me when or where but he told me to protect you and to keep an eye out for you. My dad loved you, Chantelle. He thought of you as his daughter. I was never meant to be your boyfriend, I was meant to be your protector. I was never meant to fall for you."
Coal answers all my unspoken questions. I let him come to me, his hands cup my face and I search for lies within his eyes but nothing is held besides pure truth.
"Yes, I didn't tell you the truth but there was one lie you said."
"What?" I break my gaze away from him. Coal catches my chin and turn my head to face him, his lips curving into that gorgeous smile I grown to love.
"I have never faked my feelings towards you." Coal whispers, his lips nearing mine.
I want him to kiss me but it hurts too much. It hurts like fuck. I can't let him in again and watch him play me like a barbie doll.
"I need to leave." I abruptly pull away and walk back to my car but he wraps his fingers around my wrist, sending small sparks around my body.
With a tug, I fall into his chest and Coal kisses me. My anger and frustration flies away and all is left is my feelings for Coal. My hand rest on his cheeks, our tongues fighting with each other, my heart racing. Coal pulls away, resting his forehead on mine, my breathing irregular as I inhale deeply as if I haven't breathed for decades.
"I love you Chantelle." He whispers, my heart soaring at those 4 words but then shattering at the same time as memories of the lies he told me floods my mind. I stumble backwards slightly, a frown on his face.
"I-" I stop short, unable to say it. His eyes widen with hope but I can't say it. I bite my bottom lip and tears stream down my face. "I can't do this."
Pulling away, I jump into my car, immediately turning the engine on and once I am ready to drive, my car shoots down the street, heading to who knows where.

COAL'S POV
***
She's afraid.
That's why she's running. She left me standing there, my heart shattered as she drives away. I can see the hurt in her azure eyes but I can almost feel the cautiousness emit off her when I tried getting closer to her.
She ran because I made her. She ran because I let her. She ran because my lies set her free.
As I stand there defeated, I can't help but feel a tiny, tiny amount, almost like an ant, of determination to go after her. I feel it crashing into me like a wave during a storm. She is the storm and I am the waves, I have to keep fighting her, fighting her walls until she lowers them again.
Her car disappears around the bend of the street and the first thing I do is head home. Once getting there, my Mom breaks down into tears and my heart is practically like glass, cracking at the heartache around me.
"Oh my beautiful baby boy," She sobs, hugging me tightly while Ray plays with his toys in the corner. "Are you okay?"
Her mother like instinct kicks in and she carefully checks for any wounds in my body. When finding there is none, eye her's swell up even more but in disbelief. But I was here. After a few days, I've come out of hiding for them hit men.
"Are you?" I ask my mother.
She frowns and shake her head, teardrops on her cheeks. "No, son. My beautiful daughter-in-law has ran away because of all the lies you told. This is why you tell the truth"
I roll my eyes and pull away. "I didn't know who to trust. I didn't know if I could trust her."
Mom smile sadly and pats my head softly, running her hand over it. "You need to win her back. Who did I raise you to be?"
I look out the window. Time to get my girlfriend back.
