AFTER arriving back from Dubai, I spend a few days at home and around town. My body feels numb, my emotions are all over the place.
Stacey tells me that Coal has been MIA and hasn't been in contact with anyone but once called up her to ask where I was. She told him I was away and that was the last time she heard of him. No matter how much I want to not miss him, I can't help but do, my stomach churning with sadness and guilt. Coal may have disappeared but it seems right now like I'm gone.
"Are you okay?" Stacey asks, concern crossing her face but something also glimmers in her eyes as she walks into the living room.
Pity. I don't want pity.
"Fine." I say, bluntly, my face blank like a sheet of white paper, and I leave the room.
