as you look out the window, you see a little boy and little girl playing outside.
it is winter, it is cold. they have scarves up to their eyes and frosty hair. their little ladybug and dinosaur boots are covered in snow, their coat sleeves covering their hands.
the little girl's eyes twinkle with happiness, the little boy's shining with mischief. the little boy asks a question.
"do you like the snow?"
the small, confident, voice you hear is one of a little boy, no doubt. he talks like nothing is to worry about in the world, as if his little girl friend and himself is all he needs to be happy.
the little girl giggles, responding with a simple confirmation. her scarf slides down and a button nose is revealed, pink cheeks and pale freckles. the little boy nods his head in agreement.
"you know, some day, you and i, let's get married!" he boldly suggests, then ducks his head and kicks a nearby snow pile. the little girl giggles again.
"yeah! we can have roses, and pretty dresses, and you can wear a suit! ooh!" she responds, her scarf falling further and revealing a pearly, white smile.
the little boy shakes his head, and the little girl frowns.
"why not?" she asks, looking hurt.
"i want to have a wedding when the snow falls. wanna know why?" he asks, and the girl nods, telling him to go on.
"my mama told me that snow falling is one of the prettiest things in the whole wide world, and i want to have the prettiest wedding in the whole wide world, because you're the prettiest girl in the whole wide world."
the little girl laughs delightedly, her long coat sleeves clapping excitedly.
"yeah, yeah! i love you!"
"i love you too!"
and they run inside, beckoned by a mother holding warm beverages, and you turn away from the window, your day having brightened a little more.
