"i'm so useless," she whispers.
"but you aren't," he whispers back. "you're still growing. you're learning what to do in life so that one day, one moment, you'll be able to. you'll be able to face the conflict and tell them, you'll tell them 'this is wrong'. because in that moment, you will realize that all you've experienced and all that you've learned plays a crucial part in your role. too many are taken too soon, too many are unable to fulfill their roles in life. but you'll be able to one day. i'm going to be honest and tell you that yeah, you are pretty useless right now. but you know what? someday, sometime, you will be the most important human being alive. you'll have lived, breathed, existed for that very moment. and once you've done your part, you'll be able to sit back and admire your handiwork. you'll take the paintbrush off of the canvas and admire the beautiful painting before you. you'll be able to look at the whole picture and smile because you know that you've been a crucial part of it all. i'm going to be honest and say that you're maybe a little useless right now. but someday, you'll be the most important."
she cannot manage to think of a response.
