xxiii. ARRIVAL

✢ ✢ ✢

Foster started off her first day of senior year entering the school alongside Kira Yukimura. Now that Isaac was no longer here, Foster had told Kira that she would be driving her to school every day. Car rides were lonely without someone, and besides, Foster needed someone who would belt out song lyrics to her throwback mixtape. If she was being honest, Kira was the perfect person to do so.

Besides, this wasn't Kira's first time riding in Ellen (which Kira claimed was a death trap). Foster, of course, defended Ellen's honor, assuring that she was in tip top shape. That was, until a clanking sound was heard and she then proceeded to shut her mouth.

She had a feeling it was time to take Ellen to the auto-shop for some repairs.

Regardless, the two girls were walking into the building alongside one another. The car ride mainly consisted of the girls singing to Destiny's Child, and going over what had happened last night. Foster hadn't really done much researching when she got home seeing that the Senior Scribe did start at midnight. She had gone to bed the moment Scott dropped her off, and she hadn't done any research about glowing claws or Theo Raeken. Not that Theo was a large priority of hers right now, she was just wondering why he left. Any sort of insight that could help her understand why anyone would want to leave their parents.

She didn't understand that. She would have given anything to have had more time with both of her parents.

Then again, she also didn't know the Raeken family dynamic. For all she knew, the Raeken parents could have treated Theo horribly. That was why Foster couldn't judge because in all honesty, she knew nothing about his family life. She just wanted to know why he left because she can't really picture a fifth grader living on his own. He probably stayed with grandparents or something, but Foster didn't know.

He was currently Foster and Kira's topic of conversation as they entered the building.

"So, he left in fourth grade, and somehow became a werewolf between then and now," Foster began, the two girls approaching the blonde's locker. Foster had put all of her items into it two weeks ago, before she left for France, so that she would be prepared on the first day. All of her binders and notebooks were inside, and she knew she'd be getting her textbooks today. Except for her AP Biology one, she got that book the last day of junior year.

Summer homework was such a joy.

"And his arrival also came with one of a guy with glowing talons," Kira added on, Foster nodding her head in confirmation.

"Not to mention that while I was waiting in traffic, I saw Theo," Foster explained, and Kira's brows knitted together in confusion. That was one little detail Foster might have left out. "When I was trying to get service for my phone, he was in the car in front of me. So, did he somehow know that Scott was Scott when he came to get me, or?"

Kira shrugged, pointing out, "I don't think there's really any other explanation."

"I'm assuming he must have just sensed that he was a werewolf," Foster continued, remembering how Scott could practically sense when there was another werewolf nearby. "But why would Theo follow us? That's just creepy, you know?"

"Do you think it's a coincidence that he showed up the moment the other guy did?"

Foster shrugged, grabbing her binder for AP Bio out of her locker and shutting the door. She then proceeded to lock it, thinking it over. Was it a coincidence? So far, everything that has happened seemed to happen with a purpose. Things didn't just happen to happen. There was always a reason behind everything.
