Kota's POV

July 18, my 18th birthday.  I woke up surprisingly earlier than I usually did and smiled when I opened up my phone.  There was a text from Jason.  "Happy happy birthday!"

I replied, "Thanks! =D"  I set down my phone and went to rummage through my closet, pulling out jean shorts, a light green top that said "Believe" in purple cursive letters, and a purple beanie.  I changed into the simple outfit and ran down the steps where my mom greeted me in the kitchen.

"Hey birthday girl!"  She smiled.  "I made you a special breakfast."

I laughed a little bit and peeked over to the dining table.  Laid out across the table was a plate of chocolate chip pancakes with real syrup rather than the crappy store bought kind, scrambled eggs, a pitcher of orange juice and a bowl of strawberries and blueberries.  I hugged my mom.  "Thanks." and then I sat at the table helping myself to the food that was laid out across it.  I sighed as I took a bite of the pancakes.  My mom made the absolute best pancakes I have ever tasted.

As I drank the last of my glass of orange juice I stood up and took my dishes over to the sink, rinsing them off before heading over to Jason's.

When Jason opened his door he smiled and pulled me into a huge hug.  "Happy birthday!" he said into my shoulder.

"Thanks, again."  I giggled at his muffled voice which made him sound like he had said something that was not understandable, but I knew what he had said.  He laughed too and pulled away, then led me into the house and we sat down on his couch.  He wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled my closer, closing the gap between us as our lips touched and didn't part for a good 20 seconds.  We finally pulled away for air and we were both smiling.

Jason leaned back against the back of the couch.  "What do you want to do today?"

"Oh, I don't know..."

He cut me off.  "Come on, we have to do something, it's your birthday!"

I sighed.  "Well, the fair is only about ten minutes from here."

"All right." He smiled.  "Let's go to the fair!"

Skip car ride cause I can

Jason and I held hands as we walked through the crowds at the fair.  He had won me a huge teddy bear from the test your strength game.  (A/N  oooh, Jason's got muscles!)  We had also gotten a bag of cotton candy and some lemonade.  As we approached the exit to the fair, we had been there almost all day, I pulled back on his arm and pointed.  He smiled and we turned, walking up to the photo booth that was set up by the balloon pop.

We set our stuff outside and climbed in, preparing for our first picture.  We took two rounds of photos.  The first one was hilarious because we weren't ready so Jason was brushing his hand through his hair and I was staring off at nothing.  Most of the others were silly faces but there was also one of us hugging each other, and the last one, one of our favorites, which was us kissing each other.  We printed out two copies of each round and laughed at our strange, yet memorable photos.  Then we left the fair and headed back to Jason's house.

As we stepped out of the car Jason told me to cover my eyes.  I was about to question it but decided just to go with it.  I put my right hand over my eyes and Jason took my left hand, leading me somewhere.  He finally told me to open and I looked around.  We were in the back yard, but it was all decorated with streamers and balloons.  Then there was the word "SURPRISE!" as a bunch of people jumped out from hiding.  I gasped and grabbed Jason's arm and he laughed at my priceless expression.  "Happy birthday."  He hugged me.

"Oh my god!" I screamed.  "Thank you!"  Jason laughed again and we let the party begin.

There were about twenty people there.  Including my best friend, Ali, along with Ty, Adam, Dawn, and Dakota.  There were also some of my other friends and who must have been Jason's friends.  We basically just hung out and danced.  Then it was time for cake.  Jason lit the candles and started singing "Happy Birthday," then the others joined in.  As the song ended, Jason whispered, "Okay, make a wish."  I smiled and blew out the candles, gazing up at Jason as I made my wish, smiling at him.  Almost everyone seemed to know what I had wished for because there was a chorus of aw's and "Oooh, Jason!" and Jason was blushing.  (A/N what do you think she wished for?  you will learn towards the end of the book.)

Jason's POV

When Kota had gazed up into my eyes, smiling, as she made her wish, I blushed, knowing exactly what she had wished for.  Then I blushed harder as everyone made a big deal out of it.  I couldn't help but think that maybe I wanted her wish to come true, because I think I wanted the same thing.  As we finished our cake, I glanced over at Adam.  He was plugging my phone into the speaker.  He wouldn't!  Oh he would!  I glared at Adam as the song began and he laughed.  Then everyone but Kota and I stepped to the side like it was planned, oh god, it probably was planned!  Kota and I blushed as we turned to each other.  I took her hands in mine.  "May I have this dance?"  She smiled and I pulled her closer to me, swaying back and forth as the speaker played You and Me by Lifehouse.

Everyone else was looking at us, smiling as we had our first dance as a couple.  Kota was resting her head on my shoulder and I kissed her cheek, then pulled away slightly and began to sing along to the song.

"Something about you now

I can't quite figure out

Everything she does is beautiful

Everything she does is right

'Cause it's you and me and all of the people with nothing to do, nothing to lose

And it's you and me and all of the people

And I don't know why I can't keep my eyes off of you

And you and me and all of the people with nothing to do and nothing to prove

And it's you and me and all of the people

And I don't know why I can't keep my eyes off of you"

Kota smiled and gazed into my eyes as I sang through the lyrics.  Then to my surprise, she joined in for the last few lines.

"What day is it?

And in what month?

This clock never seemed so alive "

She had an amazing voice and when the song ended I was smiling too.  We had just had our first dance together, so I guess You and Me would be considered, our song.  I pulled her closer and she put her arms around my neck.  Then our lips met once again and didn't part until we had to breathe, and even then they touched again afterwards.  Neither of us wanted to let go.

A/N

So there we go.  Chapter 6 and they had their first dance!  You and Me is one of my favorite songs and Lifehouse is my favorite band, so yeah.  Hope you enjoyed, Peace out!
