Kota's POV

I took one last big breath as I turned away from the front door, facing the inside of my living room.  It didn't look right, it looked lonely and depressing, it was empty and blank, but not like a fresh blank canvas, more like a nothing left kind of blank.  I had only been here for 1 to 2 years and I was moving.  I had actually found friends and a boyfriend here, and I was moving.  I am moving.

"Ready Kota?"  My mom peeked through the front door.  I sighed and turned to her, wheeling my last suitcase around with me.

"Yep,"  I said, forcing a smile and following her out the door.  The car was all packed up except for the suitcase I had with me and my small backpack holding my laptop and recording setup.  I tossed the suitcase into the trunk of the car.  I pushed down the trunk door and took one last glance around. As I took one last look at my home, I was shocked to see two boys approaching us on skateboards.

"Jason!  Ty!"  I screamed running to them.  If your wondering, Jason had gotten his cast off about two and a half weeks ago and was now taking some physical therapy to build up his muscle again.

Jason skidded to a stop and kicked up his skateboard as Ty kept going a bit farther.  "Kota!"  Jason said smiling as he ran the rest of the way to me and hugged me.  "Oh I was so worried I missed you!"

"Nope!  I'm about to leave though."

Jason's POV

"Ty!"  I yelled up the steps.  "Let's go dude!"

"I'm coming calm down!"  He yelled as he came jogging down the steps dragging his fingers through his hair in an attempt to comb it out.

"Sorry dude, I'm just worried she'll already have left by the time we get there."

"She wouldn't leave without saying goodbye."  He assured me putting his hand on my shoulder.  "Now let's go."

We walked out into my garage and grabbed our skateboards from there spot leaning up against the wall.  "You sure you can get there on skateboard?"  Ty asked as I reached for mine.  I didn't look up at him but I could tell he was looking at my leg which didn't look like it had been broken considering I was wearing jeans even though it was summer.  I had lost a good amount of muscle in that leg and it wasn't exactly proportional to the other.

I rolled my eyes and positioned my skateboard, steadying it with my foot.  "Yeah dude, I'm fine."  He shrugged and stepped onto his own skateboard, following me out onto the sidewalk.

Kota, please still be there.

We were almost to Kota's house, though I guess it's not really hers anymore.  I could just barely see a car still parked in the driveway and a figure standing in the yard, looking up at the house.  Thank god she's still here!

She looked over at us, realizing who we were.  "Jason!  Ty!"  She yelled.

I skidded to a stop and kicked up my skateboard, tucking it under my arm, though Ty kept going a bit father before stopping as well.  "Kota!"  I smiled as I ran the rest of the way towards her, wrapping her in my arms.  "I was so worried I had missed you."

"Nope!  I'm about to leave though."  She sighed and pulled away as Ty came over to us, looking sadly at us then back to her house.

Ty hugged her.  "I'm going to miss you so much."  He said sadly.  "I've never met someone so similar to me in my life, you're like my twin sister or something!"

Kota laughed.  "Neither have I, you're my absolute best friend Ty!"  She had a small tear at the corner of her eye.  "Jason" She turned to me, such a powerful emotion of sadness and regret in her eyes.  "I don't know how I'm going to get along without you, you've done so much for me..."

"I don't know what I'll do without you Kota,"  I sighed.  "But you'll never find anyone who loves you as much as me.  I love you Kota."  Ty looked on at us sadly.

"I love you too Jason."

Then we came closer together, whispering in unison, our faces inches apart.  "Forever and always."

I closed the gap between us, feeling the sparks for the last time, wrapping Kota in my arms, I never wanted to let her go, why did I have to let her go?

We finally, reluctantly, pulled apart, forcing smiles though tears had escaped.  I was still holding her hand.  "Goodbye Jason."  She began stepping away, though our eyes were locked, as our fingers parted.  I had no words, just watched her as she approached her car.

Ty walked up to me, putting his arm around my shoulder.  I shoved my hand into my pocket, hitting a small box at the very bottom.  I don't know how, it was so important, yet, in the moment, I had forgotten about it.  "Damn it," I whispered under my breath.

Ty looked at me.  "What?"

I completely ignored him, just took off sprinting towards the car right as Kota opened up the passenger side door.  It was now or never, time to make her eighteenth birthday wish come true.  "Kota, wait!"  I yelled, the wind in my face drying the few tears that had dropped onto my cheeks.

Kota looked startled and confused as she shut the door and stepped away from the car.  I grabbed her hand, pulling her closer.  "Whoa, what? Jason, I have to..."

"No, Kota, just let me speak."

She shrugged.  "O-okay then."

"Kota, I can't let you go, I have never met a girl so perfect as you.  You have done wonders in my life and shaped me into a better man with each minute we spend together.  You're my universe, my reason to live.  I can't let you go.  It's supposed to be 'you and me' for the rest of our lives."  I quoted the title of our song and kneeled down on one knee, pulling out the box and flipping it open.  "Kota, will you please marry me?"

Kota gasped as her mom looked on at us, shocked but smiling.  I saw Ty approaching us, his eyes wide.  I knew what he was thinking, why didn't you tell me about this?  I just smiled up at Kota, awaiting her answer.

She nodded frantically.  "Yes, yes Jason, yes!"

A/N

And there we go doods!  Jason proposed!  Remember on Kota's birthday when she blew out her candles and looked up at Jason?  Well yeah.  And she's actually not moving!  All part of my plan, and again, thanks to that_canadian_gurl for suggesting the whole Kota has to move thing, it was perfect way to get this story to where it needs to be.   Also I was listening to Lifehouse, which you know is my favorite band, as I wrote this, so every time I made Jason say something or said his name I kept picturing the lead singer of the band, Jason Wade.  With that said...  Peace out!
