Jason's POV
I could hear faint voices, but I couldn't hear the words themselves. Not a single part of my body felt right. All over I was either numb or in pain. I forced my eyes open the slightest bit, just so maybe I could see where I was. Everything around me was white, nothing but pure white. Then there were some silhouetted figures who were suddenly hovering over me. People, but I couldn't see there faces. Just their dark figures against the pure white behind them. What was going on? The last thing I remembered was screeching and Ty screaming my name. Was I hit by a car? Was I dead? Was I in heaven? I don't even know.
One if the people spoke. "Jason... You hear... All?" All I could hear were snippets of what he was saying, so it sounded like a bunch of jumbled up words. It barely made any sense to me but I think I knew what he was asking. Basically he wanted to know if I could hear him. Well, kind of.
I tried to speak, but I couldn't get any words out. I was groggy and weak, I had a headache, I just wanted to shut my eyes and sleep again, I didn't know what happened, what's happening now, or where I was. My answer came out as some sort of noise, like a groan or something, that's the best way I can describe it because it didn't sound exactly, uh, I guess you could say it didn't really sound human.
The person spoke again, maybe to the other person? I heard "can... Hear... Aware... Going on... Give... More." So confusing. Based on what he had last asked me, I think he was saying that I could still hear and to give me more... Give me more what? I decided just not to question it. As I let my eyes close again, there was a horrible intoxicating smell. The last thing I thought was, hospital. I wasn't dead. I was in a hospital. Then I was exposed to a black void of nothingness.
Kota's POV
"Can I speak with friends of Jason Park?" A nurse dressed in all white, just like everything else around here, walked over to the waiting area, glancing at a clip board. Ty and I made eye contact and then stood up, holding hands (not in that way, just for comfort), and walked up to the nurse. She was short and thin with long wavy dark brown hair and blue eyes. She looked extremely young, maybe between 17 and 22?
"Yes?" I asked her with a shaky voice.
"Friends of Jason?" Ty and i nodded, confirming her that we were, in fact, friends of Jason. "May I ask your names?"
"Um, I'm Ty, his best friend." Ty said, playing with his fingers nervously.
"And I'm his girlfriend, Kota."
The nurse smiled and checked her clip board again. "All right. Well, I'm sorry for what has happened, though I am glad to be able to say that Jason has successfully come through surgery."
My eyes lit up the slightest bit. Ty hesitated before asking, "can we see him?"
The nurse sighed. "I'm afraid not. He's still under the effects from the anesthesia. He also needs some time to rest before he can accept visitors. If you check back tomorrow you should be able to say hello."
Ty and I nodded. "Well thanks for letting us know he's okay." I sighed. "I guess we'll be going now." The nurse nodded and walked back to her desk. I grabbed Ty's shirt sleeve and pulled him out the door, leading him to the car as we walked through the dark parking lot, bathed in light in some places from streetlamps and lit up signs, at 1:00 in the morning. Yep, we had been here most of the day.
I decided to be the one to drive back to the hotel, so Ty grudgingly climbed into the passenger seat, not wanting to leave.
As I park the car in the hotel's parking lot, I remembered why we were staying here in the first place. "Crap," I muttered under my breath, just loud enough for Ty to hear. He glanced over at me, his eyebrow raised. "We're supposed to be at PAX tomorrow morning!"
