Kota's POV
I woke up one morning, about a week after Jason had come home, not to my alarm like usual, but to my phone's ring tone going off right beside me. Usually I would grown and ignore the call, and if it weren't for the ring tone playing, I most likely would have done just that. However the song was You and Me, of course it was Jason's ring tone. I sat up and reached over to the bedside table.
"Hello?" I said drowsily into the phone.
"Hey Kota, did I wake you up?" He asked, slightly nervous for my answer, he could really be cautious at times, like he was worried he might do something that would cause me to break up with him. Pfftt, cause that's a possibility, note sarcasm.
"Yeah, you did, but it's okay, I probably should be getting up anyway." I chuckled, it was 10:00 am so...
"Oh, okay, well, I was wondering if you'd want to meet me at the park around 10:45?"
"Oh, um, yeah sure, that'd be great!" I smiled, already standing up and walking over to my closet.
"Okay great, see ya soon!"
"Bye!" As the call ended I was pulling out one of those casual plaid button up shirts with the roll up sleeves, it was light blue and green. Along with that I picked up a pair of black skinny jeans and changed into the outfit, pulling on my converse, a grey beanie and a grey hoodie from Aeropostale that read Aero 87 in lime green lettering across the front.
I quickly ran a brush through my hair, nothing special, just draping it over my shoulder like usual, and began walking out of my bedroom. As I emerged into the hallway, I attempted to make my hair look presentable, tangling my necklace in the process. "Damn it!" I whispered through gritted teeth as I set to work separating the chain, jogging down the steps and into the living room.
I wandered into the kitchen and grabbed a granola bar that I planned to eat on my way to the park, that is, if I had the necklace untangled in time. At that moment my mom happened to come in as well. "Oh, Kota." She said. "I want to talk to you." She sounded a little hesitant and unsure, it didn't sound good.
"Oh, okay," I said questioningly as I followed her into the living room, sitting back on the couch across from her. I sighed a breath of relief as I finally got the necklace untangled, allowing it to drop back down around my neck.
"All right Kota, here's the thing." I was beginning to get nervous. "I have been offered a great job that is not something that I would like to pass up."
"Oh," I said smiling, not quite as nervous anymore. "That's great mom!"
"Yes, but, well, in order for me to take the job, we have to move..." She hesitated. "To Virginia."
My eyes widened and I gasped. "No! Please, don't tell me you're taking the job!"
"Kota, this is a wonderful opportunity, I can't just pass it up, I'm..."
"No!" I cut her off. "We can't move!"
"Kota..."
"Mom! We've only been here 2 years! I have friends here, actual friends, like my BEST friend, Ty. I'm not bullied here. Jason's here!"
"Yes, I know, but I have to take this job Kota, I'm sorry."
I felt like crying a little bit, but I was too angry and frustrated to let tears out. We can't move! I finally have a good life with best friends and a boyfriend I wanted to be with forever, but I know by now, no matter how many times you say it will work, long distance relationships never end well. Two years ago I couldn't believe I was being forced to live here, yet now I refused to go.
"No mom, I can't go with you..." I thought for a moment. "Wait! I'm 18, almost 19, I can legally live on my own!"
"Kota, you think I haven't thought of that? I just don't have the money to pay for you to live in your own apartment. I've thought through so many things, but you have to come with me, I'm sorry."
There were no words to describe my mix of frustration, rage, sadness, disappointment. I shook my head and glared at my mother. "If you'll excuse me, I'm supposed to be meeting Jason at the park." I stood up and walked to the door, looking back at my mom who was still sitting on the couch, her head in her hands, before I ran out the door and sprinted to the park.
Jason's POV
I parked my car on the road next to the park, pushing the door open and letting the warmth of the sun hit my body as I positioned my crutches beneath my arms. Normally I would have walked from home to here, though at the current moment with my crutches, that didn't sound like such a great option.
My phone buzzed and I reached into my pocket, opening up the newest text, it was from Kota.
"I'm gonna be a little late, be there in 10, just left home."
"Ok :)" I replied, slipping my phone back into my pocket and locking the car doors. Looks like I have ten minutes to kill.
I wandered around the park for a few minutes before turning back and approaching the pond, where Kota and I always met each other, well actually, it also happened to be where we first met each other. I'll never forget that day.
*Flashback*
"Hey," I smiled as I approached the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. She was sitting alone under a tree as I walked up to her. "Are you okay?" I had asked her.
She had been slightly reluctant to speak at first, but we quickly made conversation over her ring tone, my own song, Eclipse. We had talked for a while, slowly learning about each other and all the things we had in common.
She eventually told me everything that had been bothering her, her life story up until that point. I was happy to listen, I loved her voice. I tried my best to comfort her and was easily excited at the fact that I could make her smile and laugh at the time. I had never felt such an amazing feeling in my life, a feeling of happiness, longing, wanting to see this girl again, make her a part of my life.
Who knew it would turn into such an amazing relationship, something so special between the two of us.
*End Flashback*
I sat down on the same bench Kota and I always sat on, remembering all of the times we had come to this very spot. It was special to me, this spot had significant meaning to me.
Kota finally came running up to me. I stood, balancing myself against the bench as she hugged me tight.
"Whoa," I laughed. "What's up?"
"Jason I need to talk to you." She said, she looked kind of sad. I didn't like this.
I nodded and we sat down on the bench. She told me about how her mother was offered a job which sounded great, at first. Then she said it. "Jason, I'm moving... to Virginia." She sighed.
What, no! Oh my god, she was moving? She had only been here two years, she couldn't be moving yet. I love her. There was something that I had wanted to tell her for so long, something that I had all planned out, it had been planned since before I was hit by that damn car. Now I didn't know if I would have to the chance to tell her.
A/N
Hey doods, I promised another chapter today, so here it is. It's slightly longer than the last so hopefully that's a good thing. Thanks so much to dat_canadian_gurl for helping me to come up with this idea. I read it and realized it was the perfect idea to get the story where I need it for the end. Speaking of the end, this story should end up with three more chapters if all goes right. I think you'll like the outcome of the story, I know I do....
Well anyway, peace out!
