After my crazy night, I needed to clear my head. I wandered out to the forest, clutching a dark brown rucksack in my hand and journal 4 tucked inside my jacket. Since the original three journals were destroyed five years ago, I set to work to recreate the journals, with creatures old and new.
The morning dew brushed against my skinny ankles, the little droplets of water refreshing me. I wandered aimlessly under the blanket of trees, searching for new creatures to categorise.
"Ugh!" I grunted loudly, my voice echoing through the wilderness. "I've seen everything here a million times! Isn't anything new out here?"
"Maybe I can help..."
I glanced around me cautiously, trying to discover the body that voice belonged to. But with no luck. I wondered if my mind was playing tricks on me... no, I definitely heard someone. Something. And that was when I saw it.
Half buried in the muddy soil, the statue was entwined with ivy and hidden with moss. But still it was unmistakably Bill, in his final form. I was never really sure whether he could actually die or not, but I knew for sure that he is trapped like this, his soul encaged with solid stone walls that even he couldn't destroy.
I had passed this spot before, but there was something else I hadn't seen before. Either I hadn't noticed or it's new, and has appeared recently. A code was engraved into the rock, as clear as day. It read:
BV LYFQTOB ACRXWFKJ DHB XO AEZQM
IIM OPPWC'T OZYH PXT AZFO IAPVP
MXB IIMCP'V I LBG SP FIC MQGP DOPJV
L MRG BVAE ZINTS PTD OQUF BZ SLU.IIM FWWQBBBP DDKGJNTNH.
I couldn't crack it. I spent the morning crouching by the rock, although it was hopeless. Maybe this is one mystery I can't solve.
I yawned as the sun peeked cheerily through the branches above my head. I had to sleep, my eyes couldn't stand the sight around me. I needed to dream, without him.
Suddenly, everything around me disappeared, and I was lost in my subconscious. A voice danced through the darkness, destroying my soul. It was the kind of laughter that turned your heart black, the happiness that made you want to die.
"Glad to see me, Pinetree?"
